Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley is seeking re-election for a fourth term. He is opposed in the May 20 Democratic Primary by Garland Trice.
Kelley is a graduate of Watson Chapel High School. He graduated with honors from Southeast Arkansas College and has received training from the Saint Louis University School of Medicine and the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory.
He is a member of the Arkansas Coroners Association, the Jefferson County Democratic Central Committee, the International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners, and the Society of Medicolegal Death Investigators.
Trice is a native of Monroe, Ark., who graduate with a bachelor’s degree from the Arkansas AM&N College (now the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff). He worked for the Cotton Belt Railroad for 13 years and has owned his own business in Pine Bluff since 1972. Trice attended graduate school at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, where he also worked for campus security. He also received environmental training at the University of Maryland and paramedic training at Southeast Arkansas College in Pine Bluff. He holds an intermediate emergency medical technician certifications and also served a partial internship with a funeral home in Camden.
