Pine Bluff nurse Karen Holcomb has been reappointed by Gov. Mike Beebe to the Arkansas State Board of Nursing.
Holcomb is a registered nurse and received her nursing diploma from the Jefferson School of Nursing in Pine Bluff and bachelor’s degree in gerontology from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
Her certifications include AHA Mid-Management Certification, ACLS and BLS instructor. Holcomb is a clinical nurse manager in the orthopedics and urology unit at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.
She is married to Danny Holcomb and has two children.
The Arkansas State Board of Nursing is composed of 13 Arkansas residents appointed by the governor. Its mission is to safeguard the life and health of its citizens by developing standards for safe nursing care and approval of nursing schools and regulating licenses to practice nursing.
She was the board president during the 100th-year celebration last year and was re-elected this year and is the first president to be elected for two consecutive years.
She is also a third generation registered nurse who followed in the footsteps of her grandmother Rosalie Tidwell, and mother Carrie Tidwell, who also worked for JRMC..
