Are you an elected official? Do you handle questions from the public regarding open records or open meetings? What can be considered in executive session and what’s off limits? Do you want to know more about the state Freedom of Information Act?
If the answer to any of these questions is yes, consider attending the FOI Road Show, that is to be held on Oct. 18. Five such road shows are being held around the state and are being presented by by the Arkansas Press Association and the state Attorney General’s office. The closest one to this part of the state will be in Little Rock from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Bowen School of Law, 1201 McMath Ave.
This is the fourth in the series. The first three were in Jonesboro, Fort Smith and Bentonville. After the one in Little Rock, there will be one in Texarkana on Nov. 7.
The sessions feature presentations from personnel with the Attorney General’s office as well as from journalists from the area. Questions are then taken from the audience.
There is no fee, but registration is required. Those wanting to attend one of the “shows” can sign up by contacting the APA at 501-374-1500 or by emailing email@example.com.
