County Democratic Party sets filing fees for primary election


The Jefferson County Democratic Central Committee has set filing fees for the 2014 Jefferson County primary election.

Central Committee Chairman Ted Davis said in a news release that the filing fees for Democratic Party office seekers is set at approximately 3 percent of the annual salary for the office the candidate is seeking.

County officials are elected for a two-year term while municipal officials are elected for a four-year term. Davis said the county filing fees will remain the same except for the office of Constable. The fee for that office was increased to $50.

Filing for the 2014 Democratic Party primary begins at noon Feb. 24 and ends at noon March 3 at the office of the County Clerk at the Jefferson County Courthouse.

Early voting begins May 5 at the courthouse and the primary election will be conducted May 20.

Fees for Democratic Party candidates for County Offices are as follows:

• County Judge — $1,350

• County Sheriff — $1,350

• County Clerk — $1,225

• Circuit Clerk — $1,225

• County Treasurer — $1,225

• County Assessor — $1,225

• County Collector — $1,225

• County Coroner — $800

• Justice of the Peace — $150

• Constable — $50

Fees for Democratic Party candidates for Pine Bluff municipal offices are as follows:

• Mayor — $2,400

• City Attorney — $2,400

• City Clerk — $1,500

• Alderman/Alderwoman — $360

• City Treasurer — $250

Filing fees for the Democratic Central Committee will be $50.
