Corrections department releases retouched photo of escapee

As the search for escaped prisoner Timothy Buffington continues, the Department of Correction has released a new photo showing how Buffington might look now.

The retouched photo shows Buffington — who was clean-shaven in the photo released after he escaped June 21 — with the beginnings of a red beard.

Prison spokeswoman Shea Wilson said the search for Buffington will be scaled back because of the Fourth of July holiday, but the command center will remain open and corrections officers will continue to respond to calls.

Buffington was serving a 20-year sentence for first-degree murder when he walked away from an employee housing unit on prison grounds at the Pine Bluff Complex where he had been doing yard work as a trusty.

Before leaving, he broke into a secure storage room at the house and took a loaded shotgun and camouflage clothing.

He was last seen on security video the same night he escaped trying to break into a house on Princeton Pike. There have been no confirmed sightings since then.

He is a white male, 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 182 pounds and should be considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information about him should call 911.
