Colonial Steakhouse changes ownership

Dana Gateley waited tables at Colonial Steakhouse for 25 years, becoming familiar with the customers and the operation of the business.

Now she is the new owner of the upscale restaurant at 111 W. 8th Ave. in Pine Bluff.

“We are blessed to see multiple generations of families,” Gateley said. “I have seen people come for their wedding rehearsal dinners. Today their children are coming for a wedding rehearsal dinner.

“We see one generation to another generation,” she said.

Calling her husband Wayne the quiet backbone of Colonial Steakhouse, Dana opened officially on June 3. She bought the restaurant from Joe and Donna Coker.*** She is not changing staff levels but is changing the decor from featuring taxidermy animals to a Tuscan motif.

“We have had the same staff for 40 years. We offer quiet elegant dining,” Gateley said. “We want people to come here and to enjoy being waiting on. We feature quiet elegant dining. We do not rush anyone. Our service is going to be the same.

“We are getting a little face-lift,” she said, adding that the changes include new draperies and carpets.

“We are known for charbroiled steak and cotton blossoms,” Dana Gateley said.

“We will be tweaking the menu, adding pasta and a new appetizer,” Dana Gateley said.

Entrees include steak, a signature prime rib, lobster and crab legs. The average meal for an adult including a drink ranges from $32 to $35.

The restaurant is blessed to have customers of many sorts, she said. Major events that bring people to the restaurant include graduations, wedding dinners, homecoming ceremonies and University of Arkansas Pine Bluff functions. Reservations are required for parties of at least five people. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 5-9 p.m.
