Additional funds for County Road Department on quorum committees agenda


A supplemental appropriation of $593,282 for the Jefferson County Road Department will be discussed when committees of the Jefferson County Quorum Court meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Jefferson County Courthouse.

The county has received $324,097.93 from the state highway tax in the first six months of this year and another $106,236.70 from the state natural gas distribution tax during the same period, according to the proposed ordinance.

The ordinance calls for allocating the money received for a variety of purposes, including:

• General supplies — $10,000.

• Janitorial supplies — $2,000.

• Uniforms and clothing — $3,000.

• Fuel and lubricants — $300,000.

• Parts and repairs — $55,082.

• Asphalt — $100,000.

• Gravel, dirt, sand — $50,000.

• Other professional services — $5,000.

• Telephone — $1,200.

• Machinery and equipment — $52,000.

• Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department — $15,000.

The only other item on the agenda for the county’s legislative body Tuesday is a resolution reappointing B.K. Bethge to a three-year term on the Jefferson County Equalization Board retroactive to June 1 and ending May 31, 2017.
