LITTLE ROCK — Home sales in Arkansas were up 18 percent in September compared to a year ago but average prices were down 1 percent, the Arkansas Realtors Association reported Friday.
The association said 2,341 homes sold in the state in September, compared to 1,978 during the same month in 2012, while the average price of a home dropped to $155,126, compared to $157,637.
Benton County had the highest number of homes sold in September with 404, followed by Pulaski County with 381, Washington County with 207, Saline County with 147 and Garland County with 117. In Sebastian County, 107 homes were sold in September and 40 were sold in Jefferson County.
The average home prices for the month were highest in Pulaski County at $184,509, followed by Garland County, $181,884; Benton County, $180,224; Cleburne, $173,301 and Washington County, $171,699.
The average price of homes in Sebastian County was $126,200 in September, and the average price of homes in Jefferson County was $119,972.
