Anniversaries/Annuals

The 47th anniversary of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, 2507 Hill St., will be celebrated Sunday at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be Rev. George Waters Jr., pastor of Rose Hill Baptist Church. The pre-anniversary picnic will be held from 10 a.m. at 2 p.m. Saturday at the church.

The eighth appreciation program for the pastor and wife, Rev. Aaron Barnes Sr. and Marcella Barnes, will be held at New Home Missionary Baptist Church, 3000 S. Orange St., at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Rev. George Barnes Jr., pastor of Spruce St. Matthew Baptist Church at Kansas City, Mo., will be the guest speaker.

Indiana Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1114 Indiana St., will celebrate the fifth anniversary of its pastor and wife, Rev. Brian L. and Constance Castle, at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Clark Thomas, pastor of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill.

Greater Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 3700 W. 13th Ave., will honor the pastor and wife, Rev. Jimmy Fisher Sr. and Nora Fisher, on their 18th pastoral anniversary, at 11 a.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. John Spicer, pastor of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church at Gould.

The 24th anniversary of the pastor and wife, Rev. Melvin and Marilyn Harrison, will be observed at St. Ollie Church at Star City Sunday. At 11 a.m., the guest speaker will be Rev. Parish Lowery, pastor of Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church at Fort Worth, Texas. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be Rev. LeArthur Shelton, pastor of Lampkin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

Concerts/Musicals

The second anniversary of the Little Vessels will be held at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 900 Grant S. St., at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Guests will include Angels of Praize, Kendric Williams, Second Chance Ministries of McGehee, Keenon Coleman and Revelation and Voices of Passion.

A musical celebration in memory of the late Rev. John Chatman will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 4807 W. Sixth Ave.

The Pine Bluff Women’s Community Choir rehearsals for “Songs of Praise 49 Concert” will be held at 7 p.m. Fridays, Aug. 15, 22 and 29 at Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2121 W. 26th Ave. The interracial, mixed denominational group is open to any Christian woman desiring to serve. Gospel singing will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at The Shed, 4 miles south of McGehee. Guests will be the Representatives from Beebe, which includes Johnny Parrack, formerly of the Kingsmen.

Men’s Day/Women’s Day

St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill will host women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Margaret Gaston of Barraque Street Baptist Church.

Amos Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 2401 Port Road, will host its annual women’s day Sunday at 3 p.m. Rev. Hazel Linton, pastor of New Cheeks Chapel AME Church and New Hope AME Church of Sherrill will be the guest speaker.

Union Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will host its annual women’s day Sunday at 3 p.m. Lola J. Thrower of Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church in Little Rock will be the featured speaker.

The annual men’s day service will be conducted at Almeta Missionary Baptist Church at Dumas Sunday at 3 p.m. The guest minister will be Rev. Timothy Jones, pastor of Bethlehem Worship Center at Dumas.

Special Events

Eudora Missionary Baptist Church, 9405 Middle Warren Road, will feature guest speaker Rev. Theophilus Smith of New Town Missionary Baptist Church, at 11:15 a.m. Sunday.

Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 1801 Indiana St., will hold a deacon’s ordination at 3 p.m. Sunday for David Dean, Brandon Flannigan, Kedrick Haney, Earnest Ingram, Alvin McDonald and Jerome Sanders.

The annual mothers and deaconess program at Barnett Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1321 N. Birch St., will be held Sunday. The guest minister will be Rev. Stephen King of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.

A Place of Hope Christian Center, 917 Scull St., will host the Coleman-Watson Chapel Class of 1972 at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, 3201 W. Second Ave., will observe the ushers annual at 7 p.m. Friday. Rev. Daren Edgerson of St. Peter’s Rock Baptist Church will give words of encouragement.

Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 900 S. Grant St., will host its annual homecoming at 3 p.m. Sunday. Guests will include Rev. David Marks, pastor of Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow, and his congregation.

Mulberry Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 719 S. Ohio St. will hold its pastor’s aid program at 11 a.m. Sunday. The speaker will be Rev. Marvin Patterson VI of Mulberry Grove.

The pre-anniversary celebration for Rev. Patrick Lockett, apostle and pastor of New Community Church, 321 N. Birch St., will begin at 6 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker Esau Watson Jr., bishop and pastor of Judah Restoration Ministries.

Morning Star Baptist Church at Gould will host a women and men’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Johnny Smith, pastor of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff.

Revivals

Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, in Grady, will hold revival services at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Dexter McDonnell Sr., pastor of God’s Way Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church of Pine Bluff, and a chaplain at the Department of Correction’s Randall L. Williams Unit in Pine Bluff.

Youth

The annual youth day for First Trinity Church of God in Christ, 800 S. Catalpa St., will be held Sunday at 10 a.m. featuring guest speaker Annette Barnes, assistant commissioner for the Arkansas Department of Education. A musical will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday with an inspirational address by Assistant Chief Ivan Whitfield of the Pine Bluff Police Department. Guests will also include Sunday’s Best contestant Steven “Spud” Howard, Kourtney “DAReverend” Smith of Destiny Worship Center, Byron Bickham and Co. of Rock of Faith Deliverance Church and Mary Reaveling of St. Louis.

New Life Ministry, 1717 S. Main St., will sponsor its back-to-school youth blast with praise dancing and singing at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Tony Webster of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.

The annual youth day at Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church, 2915 S. Main St., will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Donte Nicholson of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow.
