Anniversaries/Annuals

Happy Home Missionary Baptist Church at Jefferson will honor its pastor and wife, Rev. T.J. and Trina Rowland at 11 a.m. Sunday on the pastor’s annual day. The guest minister will be Rev. Perry Hayes.

Mt. Olive AME Church at Tarry will host the appreciation program for the pastor and wife, Revs. Welton and Tonya Boyce, Sunday at 3 p.m. The speaker will be Rev. James R. Hooper, presiding elder of the Monticello­-Warren District of the AME Church.

Northside Baptist Church at White Hall will host the 15th anniversary of the pastor and wife, Don and Bobbie Nobles, at 10 a.m. Sunday. Reggie Payte will be the guest singer.

Reynolds Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 706 S. Cypress St., will celebrate its 124th anniversary Sunday. At 10 a.m., special guests will be the Rev. C.E. Darnell and the Rose Hill North Missionary Baptist Church of Greenville, Miss., and the New Testament Gospel Singers. At 3 p.m., special guests will be Rev. LeArthur Shelton and Lampkin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

Barraque Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1800 W. Pullen St., will celebrate its 129th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Larry Battles, pastor of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church.

New Jericho Missionary Baptist Church, 1600 Liddell St., will observe its 54th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. David Mark, pastor of Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist Church, along with his congregation.

St. Andrew AME Church, 701 Franklin St., will observe its 81st anniversary/homecoming program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. James H. Thomas, presiding elder of the Pine Bluff-Helena District of the East Arkansas Conference, will be the guest speaker.

Elm Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 3114 S. Mississippi St., will celebrate its 171st anniversary/homecoming service at 10 a.m. Sunday. The speaker will be Rev. Bobby Butler, assistant pastor.

Christian Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 1100 E. Seventh Ave., will honor its pastor and wife, Rev. Robert Thomas Sr. and Mamie Thomas, on their 16th appreciation program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Leon Williams Sr., pastor of True Vine E Missionary Baptist Church.

Concerts/Musicals

Kenon Coleman & Future Generation will hold their second anniversary at 6 p.m. Sunday at Sonlite Ministries, 5103 W. Malcomb St. Guests include Michelle Prather of Nashville, Tenn., recording artists Thurman Thorton of St. Louis, Erin Knight of Little Rock and Danyell Phillips Porch & Throwback Choir.

New Community Church, 321 N. Birch St., will host a pre-anniversary musical celebration for Janice Lockett, the first lady and missionary, at 6 p.m. Friday.

St. Luke AME Church, 9908 Princeton Pike, will celebrate the anniversary of its male chorus at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. T.W. Scott, pastor of St. Paul AME Church at Arkadelphia.

Heaven’s Echoes, a Southern Gospel quartet, will be in concert at Meadowview Baptist Church, nine miles east of Sheridan, at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The group has been together since 1983.

A love celebration honoring R.G. Goal, who has been singing for 70 years, will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 900 S. Grant St. Guests will include Rev. Sammie Smith & Nu Beginnings, Pure Purpose, Spiritualettes, Royalty and the Williams Singers.

St. John Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill will host its choir annual at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. George Waters Jr., pastor of Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

St. Paul AME Church, 4143 Highway 190 East, will hold its annual choir day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest preacher will be Rev. Willie Toney, pastor of Bethel AME Church at Carthage.

St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1404 Georgia St., will hod its annual choir concert at 6 p.m. Saturday. The clinician will be Kenneth Harris of Greater Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church at Arkadelphia.

Men’s Day/Women’s Day

Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 3006 Kentucky St., will hold its annual women’s day at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Barbara Smith of Old St. James Missionary Baptist Church.

New Cheeks Chapel AME Church at Pastoria will host women and men’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Thomas Gibson of New Bethel AME Church at Stuttgart.

St. Peter’s Rock Baptist Church, 1201 S. Catalpa St., will celebrate annual women’s day at 11 a.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Shaunder Williams of Living Word Baptist Church.

Kingdom Builders Outreach Church of God in Christ, 3105 S. Apple St., will observe its fifth annual women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be the missionary for the Wynne District, Mildred Allen.

Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church at Gould will sponsor its annual men’s and women’s day celebration at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The guest preacher will be Rev. Kirby Gulley, pastor of Eighth Avenue Missionary Baptist Church.

Greater Ward Chapel AME Church, 3700 W. Sixth Ave., announces its annual men’s day celebration will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. The featured speaker will be Rev. Gregory C. Nettles, pastor of Visitors Chapel AME Church at Hot Springs.

Ezekiel Missionary Baptist Church, 121 W. Martin St., will celebrate is annual men’s day Sunday. At 11 a.m., the guest speaker will be Rev. Timothy Wallace of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be Rev. Willie Laws, pastor of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church at Cornerstone.

The annual men’s day at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church at Ladd will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Kenneth Jones, pastor of Watkin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. The Southeast Male Chorus will sing.

Northside Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 5603 Holsey St., will celebrate its annual women’s day at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23. The guest speaker will be Gwen Moore, an elder from Shiloh Seventh Day Adventist Church at Little Rock.

Eudora Missionary Baptist Church, 9405 Middle Warren Road, will host Rev. Lidell Jordan of First Missionary Baptist Church at 11:15 a.m. Sunday as the guest speaker.

The pre-anniversary celebration for Rev. Patrick Lockett, apostle and pastor of New Community Church, 321 N. Birch St., will continue at 6 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Christopher Davis of St. Paul Baptist Church of Memphis.

Wheeler Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 3519 Wheeler Chapel Road, will hold a church empowerment conference at 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday. Guest presenters will be Carl and Virginia Dismuke of Houston, Texas.

Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 909 S. Wisconsin St., plans its annual ushers’ program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest pastor and church will be Rev. Donald Manning and Thomas Chapel Missionary Baptist Church of Gould.

Northside Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 5603 Holsey St., will will welcome its new pastor, Tony R. Brown Sr. and family Saturday. Worship begins at 11:30 a.m.

First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road, will host its ushers’ fellowship brunch at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 23. The guest speaker will be Rev. Kirby L. Gulley, pastor of Eighth Avenue Missionary Baptist Church.

New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 1026 Missouri St., will celebrate Family, Relatives, Acquaintances and Neighbors (FRAN) day, at 11 a.m. Sunday. The guest preacher will be Rev. Raymond Gill, pastor of Central No. 1 Baptist Church at Lake Providence, La.

Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 6300 U.S. 79 South, will host its second annual family and friends day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Jesse Jackson, pastor of Rose Hill Baptist Church at Meroney.

The Citywide Mission will meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Eighth Avenue Baptist Church, 1200 W. Eight Ave.

The Consolidated St. Marion Baptist District Association and Congress of Christian Education will convene at Regenerated Missionary Baptist Church, 1401 E. Sixth Ave., at 6 p.m. Sunday. Deeper Revelation International Ministries of Pine Bluff, North Little Rock and Memphis, will host the Pine Bluff services beginning at noon Saturdays at Deeper Revelation, 507 S. Laurel St. The chief apostle, D. DeWayne Rudd Sr., is the featured speaker.

Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at Faith will host its homecoming 2014 at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Ricky Parks of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church at Champagne, Ill.

World Harvest Church of God in Christ will host Bishop W.L. Johnson in a question and answer forum on the Word of God at 4 p.m. Sunday. Johnson, who is more than 100 years old, is gifted at answering questions about the scriptures.

New Hope AME Church at Sherrill will hold its annual scholarship program at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 23. The community is invited to attend and financially support the scholarship program which is used to help many students attending the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

Revival

New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow will hold revival at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Robert Willis, pastor of Amos Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

Youth

Newbirth Baptist Church, 401 E. Fifth Ave., will hold its annual Youth Day celebration at 11 a.m. Sunday. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Kendall Summons, youth pastor at New Hope Baptist Church at North Little Rock.

Bethlehem Worship Center at Dumas will host their 2014 Youth Crusade starting at 11 a.m. Saturday with singing, praise dancing, stepping, games and food. At 3 p.m. Sunday, youth service will feature guest speaker Brandon Bolden of Holy Temple #2 Church of God in Christ at Monticello.
