Anniversaries/Annuals

New Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 500 Bois D’ Arc St., will celebrate its 48th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. A. Gayden, pastor of Union Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.

Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will celebrate its 126th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Charles Helloms Jr., pastor of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church at Ladd.

The 25th anniversary of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church at Dumas will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday. The sermon will be by Rev. Travis Jackson, pastor of Bailey Chapel United Methodist Church at Gould.

Mt. Pleasant AME Church, 1201 N. Magnolia St., will celebrate its 131st anniversary and homecoming at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. James R. Hopper, presiding elder of the Monticello-Warren District, will be the guest speaker. Music will be by the district choir and Women United for Christ. Hopper is a 1972 graduate of AM&N College (now the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff), where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in art education. He is also a graduate of Payne Theological Seminary at Wilberforce, Ohio, where he received a Master of Divinity degree.

Concerts/Musicals

Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 900 Grant St., will celebrate its annual choir day Sunday at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be Rev. Lee Whitiker, pastor of Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church. Music will be by Solid Rock Choir.

Kings Highway Missionary Baptist Church, 2312 Fluker Ave., will celebrate the 54th anniversary of the inspirational choir at 3 p.m. Sunday. Guests will include director Michael Bates and the Indiana Street Missionary Baptist Church Choir.

Morris Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill will host the monthly worship services of the Pastoria Singing Union at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Voices of Deliverance will celebrate their fifth anniversary at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 4807 W. Sixth Ave., at 7 p.m. Saturday. Guests include God’s Way Fellowship Choir, Dermott Mass Choir, Virtuous, Spiritualettes, Mighty True Lights and others.

The 55th anniversary of the Goodwill Singing Union will be celebrated at Reynolds Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 706 S. Cypress St., at 7 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. H. Cohen, pastor of Owens Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Dumas. Guests include Royalty, Rev. T.W. Scott and the Singing Revs and the Mighty Supremes.

Pine Hill Baptist Church at Star City will host a fellowship gospel praise and worship service at 3 p.m. Sunday. The fellowship churches include Pine Hill, Traveler’s Rest at Grady, Kindling Star at Tamo and Jefferson Chapel at Tarry. Singers and instrumentalists are welcomed to participate.

Men’s Day/Women’s Day

First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road, will host its annual men’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Bobby Acklin, pastor of Samaritan Hill Baptist Church at North Little Rock, and superintendent of Dollarway School District.

New Community Church, 321 N. Birch St., will celebrate its annual women’s day Sunday. At 8 a.m., Bessie Murry of New Community, will speak and at 11 a.m., New Community’s first lady and missionary, Janice Lockett, will be the speaker. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be Roslyn Perkins, a prophetess from Disciples of Love Ministry at Little Rock.

Bethel New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 2522 N. Pryce St., will celebrate women’s day Sunday. At 11 a.m., the speaker will be the first lady of Bethel New Bethel, Shannon Simmons. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be Mary Coates of St. Paul Church at Little Rock.

First Missionary Baptist Church of Altheimer will hold its men’s day at Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 909 S. Wisconsin St., at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Willie Laws of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church at Cornerstone.

Special Events

New Town Missionary Baptist Church, 3600 W. Second Ave., will host its ushers’ annual at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. J.J. Richardson of the Greater Galilee Missionary Baptist Church at Little Rock will be the guest speaker.

International House of Praise, 1002 E. Eighth Ave., will host the first sermon of 10-year-old Ja’Vunna McClure at 6 p.m. Friday.

Eternal Life Ministry, 503 Pryce St., will hold its fellowship program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Daniel Collier, a prophet from Pine Bluff.

St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1404 S. Georgia St., will celebrate mission day at 10:15 a.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Jeanne Cooper of Davis Creek Baptist Church at Prattsville.

Union Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will celebrate family and friends day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Brian Blood of Calvary Baptist Church at Little Rock.

New Home Missionary Baptist Church, 3000 S. Orange St., will honor its first lady, Marcella Barnes, at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Hilda May, first lady of Kings Highway Missionary Baptist Church.

The World Harvest Church of God in Christ, 3302 Georgia St., will host Bishop W.L. Johnson, at 4 p.m. Sunday. Johnson is the last living member of the original Church of the Living God established in 1889 by two former slaves, who were brothers, John Christian and William Christian, in Wrightsville, according to a spokesman. Johnson was a pastor of churches from 1910 to 1965 and is more than 100 years old.

Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow will hold its family and friends day at 3 p.m. Sunday and the guest preacher will be Rev. Jason Long of Faith Worship Center at Pine Bluff.

Revivals

Kings Highway Missionary Baptist Church, 2312 Fluker Ave., will hold revival at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. The guest evangelist will be Rev. Carl Curry of New Mt. Olive Baptist Church at Detroit, Mich.

Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will hold revival at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. The guest evangelist will be Rev. Alvin C. Lowe, pastor of Prairie Lake Missionary Baptist Church.

The Church Without Walls Kingdom Center at Watson will sponsor a prophetic revival at Dumas Community Center at Dumas at 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday. The guest speaker will be Daniel Pringle, a prophet, from Daniel Pringle Ministries of Dallas, Texas.

Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow will host revival at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and the guest evangelist will be Rev. Melvin Harrison of St. Ollie Baptist Church at Star City.

Vacation Bible School

Community Church of the Nazarene, 2400 W. 31st Ave., will host Backyard Bible Camp from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. Registration will be 5 p.m. Sunday.

Youth

Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 3006 Kentucky St., will celebrate its annual youth day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest preacher will be Rev. Terry Brown, pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church.

Ezekiel Missionary Baptist Church, 121 Martin St., will hold its youth day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. R.D. Howard of New Morning Star Baptist Church. Guests will also include the Wilson Family of Little Rock.
