Anniversary

The Church of the Living God, 3120 Gravel Pit Road, at White Hall, will celebrate the 34th anniversary of Elder Theodis and Bobbie Edwards at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Brian Castle, pastor of Indiana Street Baptist Church.

Concerts/Musicals

The sixth anniversary of the Heavenly Hearts will be celebrated at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Dumas Community Center. At 6 p.m. Sunday at the center, guests will include Rev. Andrew Cheaires & the Gospel Songbirds, the Jacksonaires of Star City and Spiritual Echoes of Little Rock. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 at the door and free for children under 6 years old. Meadowview Baptist Church, 9 miles east of Sheridan on Highway 270, will feature the Representatives in concert at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The Southern gospel group has been singing since 2005 in Arkansas and nearby states.

First Southern Baptist Church at Sheridan will host the Holcomb Family in a Southern Gospel music concert at 6:30 p.m. Saturday.

The 44th anniversary celebration of the Spiritualettes will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at Gospel Temple Baptist Church, 1100 Oakwood Road. Guests include the Sensational Soul Revivals, Christland/Faith of Harmony and Kendrick “KJ” Williams. On Sunday at 6:30 p.m., the celebration will be held at Old St. James Baptist Church, 1307 W. 16th Ave., with guests including the Barnes Sisters, Totally Committed, Williams Singers, Felicia and the Supreme Angels of Forrest City and Wells Brothers of Earl.

Men’s Day/Women’s Day

New Home Missionary Baptist Church, 3000 S. Orange St., will host the annual men’s and women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Darryl Hope, pastor of St. Stephens Baptist Church at Stephens.

The annual women’s day will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul AME Church, 4143 Highway 190 East. The guest speaker will be Barbara Deloney, a missionary with Grapevine Church of God in Christ.

Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2101 Reeker St., will celebrate women’s day at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. The speaker will be the pastor, Rev. Glenn Barnes Sr.

The annual women’s missionary society day will be observed at 11 a.m. Sunday at St. John A.M.E. Church, 1117 W. Pullen St. The guest speaker will be Phyllis N. Green, Episcopal supervisor of the 12th Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She is currently writing a devotional guide for clergy spouses and is a Golden Life Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.

Special Events

St. Peter’s Rock Missionary Baptist Church, 1201 S. Catalpa St., will hold its annual mission program at 11 a.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Parish Lowery, pastor of Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church at Fort Worth, Texas.

Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church, 2915 S. Main St., will hold its annual usher program at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Johnny Smith, pastor of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.

First Missionary Baptist Church, 4901 McDonley Road, will hold a rainbow tea program explaining what each color of the Bible represents. The program will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday and guests will include True Vessels, Little Vessels, Michelle Byrd and Ruby Cork.

The 70th annual session of the Southeast District Congress of Christian Education will be held Tuesday through Friday at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church at Dermott. Classes will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. followed by worship services. Courses include Effective Bible Reading, Christian Stewardship and History and Theology of Christianity.

New Morning Star Baptist Church at Cornerstone will sponsor a pastor’s aid program at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 900 S. Grant St., at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Johnny Smith Jr., pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church. Virtuous and New Mighty Supremes will sing.

Faith In Action Ministries, 316 S. Poplar St., will present “An Evening in Paris, Part 2,” fashion show at 6 p.m. Saturday. The event will be in the memory of the late poet and educator, Maya Angelou. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door.

Barraque Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1800 W. Pullen St., will hold its annual mission day at 11 a.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. William R. Boone Sr., pastor of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church at North Little Rock. He is also the National Baptist Convention USA Inc. Home Mission Board Midwest regional coordinator.

Bethel New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 2522 N. Pryce St., will host the installation service of its pastor, Rev. Roosevelt Simmons Jr., Sunday, at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be Rev. Terry Brown, pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church.

Citywide Mission will meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 1317 Texas St.

Judah Restoration Worship Center, 2401 S. Main St., will host Sunday Night Fire, a monthly deliverance service, beginning Sunday at 7 p.m. The guest speaker will be Rozell Wofford, apostle and pastor of Eagle Saints Outreach Ministry International at Little Rock.

Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 909 S. Wisconsin St., will sponsor the annual mission program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Gary Bell, pastor of First Assembly of God. First Baptist-Dew Drop choir will sing.

The Divine Fellowship of Christian Churches will meet at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at Faith at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. William Shaw, pastor of Pleasant View Ministries.

Victory Faith Church of God In Christ, 1517 S. Poplar St., will begin Fresh Fire Sunday at 10:30 a.m. At 7:15 nightly dates and speakers include: Sunday, Kevin Daley of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at Ogden and Wednesday, J.R. Mixon of R.E.A.L.I.T.Y. Ministries. On July 27, speakers are Timberly Mixon of Victory Faith at 10 a.m. and at 7:15 p.m., Robert Williams of First Pentecost of Jesus Christ at Ferda. George A. Morris, prophet and pastor of World for Christ Inc. of Knoxville, Tenn., will host a Prophetic Leadership Summit at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 26, at Christian Outreach Ministry, 4511 Faucett Road. Morris will also present the Prophetic Victory Summit at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 27, at Full Faith Christian Center, 1320 E 17th Ave.

Revivals

Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church at Grady will host a community revival at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Woodrow Jackson Jr., pastor of Timothy Chapel Baptist Church.

First Baptist Church (Dew Drop), 1701 N. Bryant St., will hold youth revival at 7 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The guest evangelist will be Rev. Robert C. Davenport of Kansas City, Mo.

Eighth Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, 1200 W. Eighth Ave., will sponsor a Laymen’s Revival at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. Guest speakers will be Rev. Terry Brown, pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. George Waters Jr., pastor of Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church, and Rev. Rodney Harris, pastor of Lebannah Missionary Baptist Church at Little Rock.

Revival will be held at Bright Star Missionary Baptist Church, U.S. 425 South, at 7 p.m. on the following days with these speakers: Monday, Rev. Darry Graydon of First Baptist Church at Altheimer; Tuesday, Rev. Lee Whitiker of Solid Rock Baptist Church; and Wednesday, Rev. Leroy Spears of Union Baptist Missionary Baptist Church.

Vacation Bible School

Evangelistic Outreach Church and Ministries Inc., 620 L.A. Prexy Davis Drive, will hold Vacation Bible School Monday through Wednesday.

Vacation Bible School will be held at Highland Baptist Church, 1320 S. Peach St., 6 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday starting with refreshments at 5:30 p.m. Fun day will be held Saturday, July 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

New Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 3800 Fir St., will hold Vacation Bible School for all ages from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.

The annual youth day will be held at Watkin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 800 S. Juniper St., at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest minister will be Rev. Aaron L. Johnson, pastor of Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

Old Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 3116 Port Road, will present youth day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Renice Davis, pastor of Bethany Chapel Baptist Church.

Youth Sunday will be observed at 11 a.m. Sunday at Bethel New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 2522 N. Pryce St. The guest speaker will be Rev. Donnell McTyer of Little Rock.

Youth day will be observed at Grace and Mercy Missionary Baptist Church, 817 W. Sixth Ave., at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest preacher will be Earl Graham, associate minister of Longley Baptist Church at Little Rock.

New Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 3800 Fir St., will host a youth choir workshop at 6:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and a neighborhood fun day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 26, with free refreshments. Sunday, July 27, youth day starts at 10:45 a.m. featuring Rev. Anthony Price of Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church. At 3 p.m., services will feature Rev. Joshua Pickett, pastor of Grace and Mercy Church, as the guest speaker, and the workshop choir singing.
