Annuals/Anniversaries

Newbirth Baptist Church, 401 E.. Fifth Ave., will host the sixth anniversary celebration of its pastor and wife, Rev. Terry and Nicole Brown, and family at 3 p.m. Sunday. The sermon will be by the Rev. Carlos Kelly, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church at North Little Rock and Conway.

Bethany Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1923 S. Olive St., will celebrate the 10th pastoral anniversary of Rev. Renice L. Davis and Mary Davis, with a formal Black and White Party at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Pine Bluff Country Club. The guest speakers will be the apostle and pastor, Craig and Sheryl Banks of Canaan Christian Center. Sunday at 3 p.m. at the church, the guest speaker will be Rev. Kerry Price Sr., pastor of Breath of Life Church, accompanied by his congregation.

Rankin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Gould will observe the third anniversary of the pastor and wife, Rev. Jimmy and Judy Polk, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Woodrow Jackson Sr., pastor of New United Baptist Church.

The 122nd anniversary of Cherry Street Memorial AME Zion Church, Eighth Avenue and Cherry Street, will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. The keynote speaker will be Pine Bluff native Rev. Ray Phillip Owens Sr. of Raeford, N.C. Owens is pastor of Cameron Grove AME Zion Church and has a master’s degree in divinity from Hood Theological Seminary in Salisbury, N.C.

Thomas Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Gould will celebrate the 15th anniversary of the pastor, Rev. Donald R. Manning Sr., at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Robert Willis Jr., pastor of Amos Chapel Baptist Church, accompanied by his choir.

Concerts/Musicals

New Saint Hurricane Baptist Church, 3319 S. Ohio St., will host Pastor Eric Alexander and the Voices of St. Luke in concert at 4 p.m. Sunday. They will present their newly released project “It’s the Lord’s Doing.”

Annual choir day will be held at Morris Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Ken Daniels, pastor of Solomon Hill Missionary Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker. Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church Choir at Gillett will sing.

True Vine “E” Missionary Baptist Church, 1001 W. Second Ave., will celebrate the eighth anniversary of its inspirational choir at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Accie Reynolds Jr., pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church in Ladd, who will be accompanied by his church and choir.

Union Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, 1121 S. Persimmon St., will hold its choir annual at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Aaron Barnes of New Home Missionary Baptist Church.

Prairie Lake Missionary Baptist Church, 2611 Indiana St., will host the adult choir annual at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Donald Agee, pastor of New Morning Star Church. Guests also include Pure In Heart and the Mighty Gospelettes.

Freedom Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will hold a pre-anniversary musical for the pastor and wife, Rev. Brian Dodson and Jackie Dodson, at 7 p.m. Saturday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Darrell Martin, pastor of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer. Musical guests include Battle Chapel Choir, Nu Beginners and Rev. T.W. Scott and the Singing Revs.

Men’s Day/Women’s Day

Grapevine Church of God in Christ at Grapevine will host its annual men’s and women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be pastor of First Trinity Church of God in Christ at Pine Bluff and Greater Trinity Church of God in Christ at Little Rock, Dewitt Hill.

Greater Battle Chapel Baptist Church at Altheimer will celebrate men’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Hosea Miller of Union Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will be the guest minister.

Union Missionary Baptist Church, 609 E. 24th Ave., will sponsor its annual men’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Southeast Arkansas Male Choir will sing.

Revival

Pleasant View Ministry Church, 1117 N. Palm St., will hold revival Wednesday through Friday starting with prayer at 6 p.m. and services at 7 p.m. The guest speaker will be Rev. Raymond Jackson of Canaan Christian Center.

Special events

The Multi-District Congress of Christian Education will convene Sunday through Thursday at New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 1026 S. Missouri St., starting at 7 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Glenn Barnes Sr. speaking. Youth classes will be at Indiana Street Baptist Church from 9 a.m. to noon and adult classes at New Morning Star. Tuesday at 7 p.m., the Lead Dean’s address will be by Rev. Levell Bass. Wednesday at 8 p.m., the Lead President’s address will be by Rev. Donald Agee. Thursday at 6 p.m., the youth rally is scheduled and commencement at 7 p.m. with President Leon Massey of the State Consolidated District Association.

The annual usher day will be held at Almeta Missionary Baptist Church at Reedville, Sunday at 3 p.m. The sermon will be by Rev. Andrew Beal, pastor of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church at Pickens, accompanied by the St. Paul ushers and choir.

Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2121 W. 26th Ave., will host a free usher workshop from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. At 3 p.m. Sunday, the usher annual will feature Rev. Larry Battles, pastor of Mount Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, as the guest speaker.

The annual mission program at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 900 S. Grant St., will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be Rev. Andrew Williams, pastor of Reynolds Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. Mission presentations will be made by Lillie Darrough, Willie Butler and Robbie Henry.

Greater Ward Chapel AME Church, 3700 W. Sixth Ave., will observe its annual Lay Day starting with church school at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Dorothy McFadden, a science teacher at Jack Robey Junior High School.

Greater Deliverance Global Ministry, 2215 E. Harding Ave., will host a “Summer Explosion Tour,” at 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. Kevin D. Allen Sr., an apostle of Greater Nation of Little Rock and Greater Nation of Shreveport, La., will be the speaker.

Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School will be held at New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, 1317 Texas St., from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

Vacation Bible School will be held at Greater Mount Missionary Baptist Church, 3700 W. 13th Ave., from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Activities include bible lessons, arts and crafts, music and refreshments.

Vacation Bible School and youth revival will be held at Unity Temple Church of God in Christ, 4401 W. Sixth Ave., from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Revival speakers will be Michelle Johnson, Vinnie Anderson and Rev. Kevin Crumpton.

Vacation Bible School is scheduled at New Town Missionary Baptist Church, 3600 W. Second Ave., from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Old Morning Star Baptist Church, 3116 Port Road, will hold Vacation Bible School from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday for all ages.

Youth

New St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 3301 S. Fir St., will sponsor youth day Sunday. At 11 a.m., the guest speaker will be Rev. Michael Jenkins, youth minister of Highland Missionary Baptist Church. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be Rev. Joshua Pickett, pastor of Grace and Mercy Baptist Church.
