Anniversaries/Annuals

True Vine “E” Missionary Baptist Church, 1001 W. Second Ave., will celebrate the eighth anniversary of its pastor and wife, Rev. Leon Williams and Laetta Williams, at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Robert Thomas, pastor of Christian Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, and his choir, will be special guests.

Eudora Baptist Church at Altheimer will celebrate the 13th anniversary of its pastor and wife, Rev. Roy Thomas and Barbara Thomas, at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Author Patterson, pastor of Tomberlin Missionary Baptist Church at Tomberlin, will be the guest speaker.

Jefferson Chapel Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate the 34th anniversary of the pastor and wife, Rev. Jimmy Polk and Judy Polk, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Bright Star Missionary Baptist Church, U.S. 425 North, at Tarry. The guest speaker will be Rev. Lamar Brooks, pastor of Marzell Missionary Baptist Church, at Tamo.

The 26th anniversary of Bishop Irven Cunning and wife, Florida Cunning, a minister, will be celebrated at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at All Nations Tabernacle of God, 1115 Redbud St.

The 36th annual homecoming of Main Street Church of God in Christ, 2901 Main St., will begin at 7:30 p.m. Saturday with a musical. At 11 a.m. Sunday, there will be “Back Home Testimonies,” and at 3 p.m. Sunday, the speaker will be Rev. Karl Barnes, pastor of Elect Temple Church of God in Christ at Benton.

The 150th anniversary and church dedication ceremony of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church at Ladd will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Donald Agee, pastor of New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, as the guest speaker.

Concerts/Musicals

Ruby Evans and Faith of Harmony will celebrate their 40th anniversary starting at 6 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 900 Grant St. Guests will include Young Men of Faith of Morrilton, Palarm Chapel Baptist Church of Mayflower, Jubilars of Marche’ and Totally Committed of Dumas. Sunday at 6 p.m., the event will be held at New Home Baptist Church, 3000 Orange St., and guests will include Expressions of Faith of Jackson, Miss., Mellowtones of West Memphis, T.W. Scott and the Singing Revs., and Sensational Hearts of Star City.

St. Mark Baptist Church at Sherrill will host its Gospel Choir’s 43rd anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. The speaker will be Rev. Bobby Acklin of Samaritan Hill Baptist Church at North Little Rock.

The Pine Bluff Women’s Community Choir “Songs of Praise 48” rehearsals will be held at 7 p.m. Fridays, June 13, 20 and 27 at Cherry Street AME Zion Church, 800 Cherry St. All choir members, former members, interested new members and musicians are invited.

HIS CALL will be in concert at Meadowview Baptist Church near Sheridan at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The group’s awards include group of the year, song and songwriter of the year and female and male vocalist of the year by organizations in Texas.

Men’s/Women’s Day

Union Missionary Baptist Church of Altheimer will hold its annual men’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Sherman McKenzie, pastor of St. John Baptist Church at Little Rock. Southeast Arkansas Male Chorus will sing.

A Place of Hope Christian Center, 917 Scull St., will hold a women’s day celebration at 3 p.m. Sunday. The minister will be Brenda Gray and guests include the Arkansas Community Correction Women’s Choir.

St. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 4508 S. Main St., will observe its annual men’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Melvin Harrison, pastor of St. Ollie Baptist Church at Star City. Men In Black will sing.

Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church, 2915 S. Main St., will celebrate the annual men and women’s day at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Theodis Shelton, pastor of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.

Greater Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 3700 W. 13th Ave., will host the annual men and women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Steven King, pastor of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.

Revivals

St. John AME Church, 1117 W. Pullen St., will hold revival Monday at 7 p.m. The evangelist will be Bishop Samuel Green Sr., presiding prelate of the 12th Episcopal District of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. The Barnes Sisters will sing music from their new CD.

Happy Home Missionary Baptist Church at Jefferson will hold revival at 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. The guest speaker will be Rev. J.W. Shaw of St. John Missionary Baptist Church at Stanton, Tenn.

Special events

Solomon Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 8011 Olive St., will hold the pastoral installation service for Rev. Ken Daniels at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Johnny Martin of Mt. Moriah Church at Dumas.

Barnett Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1321 N. Birch St., will hold its annual usher program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Melvin Ely, associate minister at New Home Missionary Baptist Church.

The Lanwood-Risonian Civic and Social Club will celebrate their 16th annual Juneteenth Festival at 11 a.m. and the gospel program at 2 p.m. Saturday at Powell Park in Rison. Gospel groups will include Rev. Ervin Batemon and Spirit and Truth Ministry, Spiritual Wings of Joy, Hosia Thomas and Co., Lampkin Chapel Youth Praise Dances and Golatt Links.

The annual steward day will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Greater Ward Chapel AME Church, 3700 W. Sixth Ave. The guest speaker will be Rev. D. Lavell Crawford of Bethel AME Church at Little Rock.

The annual mission program at Watkin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 800 S. Juniper St., will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday. The guest minister will be Rev. Robert Key of Lampkin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

Vacation Bible School

New Saint James Missionary Baptist Church, 33rd Avenue and Fir Street, will have Vacation Bible School at 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. A fun day will be held at noon Saturday, June 14, with games, food and other activities.

Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2121 W. 26th Ave., will host Vacation Bible School from 6-8 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, 2507 Hill St., will host Vacation Bible School at 6 p.m. Sunday through Wednesday featuring classes for all ages and arts and crafts.

Barnett Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1321 N. Birch St., will hold Vacation Bible School from 6-8 p.m. Monday through Friday with classes for all ages and arts and crafts.

Kings Highway Missionary Baptist Church, 2312 Fluker Ave., will sponsor Vacation Bible School from 6-8 p.m. Monday through Friday with classes for all ages.

Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church at Grady will sponsor Vacation Bible School at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday through Friday.

Eighth Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, 1200 W. Pullen St., will host Vacation Bible School from 6-8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Youth

First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road, youth day events Saturday will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. with a youth conference entitled “I Am Me” for ages 6-18. Presenters will include Marquez Brentley, Rev. Terry Brown, Rev. Darren and Ebone Edgerson, Daneen Higgins, Brittani Hill, Bessie Lancelin, David Maddox, Brittany McFadden, Cardell Meadows Jr., Roy Owens II, Leaundra Sanders, Stacia Ward-Anderson, and Maronda Williams. Sunday, at 11 a.m. the guest minister will be Rev. Julius McDade of St. John Baptist Church in Lonoke. At 3 p.m., Rev. Ronnie Miller-Yow of Wesley United Methodist Church in Little Rock will be the speaker and a city wide youth choir will sing.

Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 900 Grant St., announces its annual youth day will be held Sunday. At 11 a.m., the speaker will be S. Womack and at 3 p.m. the minister will be Jackie Harris.

Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will celebrate its annual youth day Sunday. Rev. Xavier Culclager of Barnes Temple Church of God in Christ will be the guest speaker at 11 a.m. Rev. Rashun Howard, associate minister at New Morning Star Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker at 3 p.m. The youth day choir will sing.
