Anniversaries/Annuals

Lightwood Missionary Baptist Church of Halley, near Dermott, will celebrate the seventh anniversary of its pastor and wife, Rev. A.G. and Bert Green, Sunday at 3 p.m. Rev. Carl Williams, pastor of Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff, will be the guest speaker.

Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 909 S. Wisconsin St., will sponsor the 21st recognition program of the pastor and wife, Rev. Amelio P. Howard and Cynthia R. Howard, and their family. The pastor’s wife’s program will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday with Hilda May of Kings Highway Missionary Baptist Church, as the guest speaker. Sunday at 3 p.m., the celebration will feature guest minister, Rev. Bobby Acklin, pastor of Samaritan Hill Missionary Baptist Church of North Little Rock.

New Hope Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will celebrate the 31st anniversary of the pastor and wife, Rev. Fred and Freddie Mae Johnson, beginning Saturday at 7 p.m. with a musical. Guests will include Nu Image, Williams Singers, Spiritualettes and Sensational Soul Revivals. At 2:30 p.m. Sunday, the guest speaker will be Rev. Michael Williams, pastor of Family Time Ministries.

Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church at Varner will celebrate its 100th anniversary at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Isaac Barnes, pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church at Gould.

The 108th anniversary of Barnett Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1321 N. Birch St., will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Gary Bell of First Assembly of God.

New Fellowship Baptist Church, 1801 W. 17th Ave., will celebrate its sixth anniversary at 9 a.m. Sunday. Rev. Ken Thornton, pastor of First Baptist Church at Pine Bluff, will be the guest speaker. A fellowship luncheon will be served at noon after worship and Sunday School.

The ninth pastoral anniversary of Rev. Alvin C. Lowe and family will be held at Prairie Lake Missionary Baptist Church, 2611 Indiana St., at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. LeArthur Shelton, pastor of Lampkin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 2008 Vaugine St., will celebrate the 22nd pastoral anniversary of Rev. Johnny Smith Jr. Sunday at 3 p.m. The guest preacher will be Rev. Charles Boyd, pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church.

Concerts/Musicals

The Kinsmen will be in concert at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Meadowview Baptist Church, 9912 Highway 270, at Sheridan. Members include Mark Little, Gary Newton, Bill Hankins and Arkansas Southern Gospel Hall of Fame Bass Singer Gerald Williams. Admission is free. Food and fellowship will follow.

The 30th anniversary of Ruby L. Criss and the Spiritual Gospel Singers will be held Sunday at 6 p.m. at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill. Guests will include the Dixie Wonders, Sensational Soul Revivals, Rev. Sammie Smith & NuBegin-N, Buchanan Family, New Bethlehem and White Family.

The Pine Bluff Quartet Local will observe founder’s day at 7 p.m. Sunday at Family Time Ministries, 501 Ohio St. Guests will include Men In Christ, Mighty Truelights, Union Choir and Rice Spirituals.

Men’s/Women’s Day

Allen Temple AME Church, 1123 Virginia St., will celebrate its annual women’s day Sunday. Lanette Frazier of Allen Temple will deliver the message at 11 a.m. Rev. Marcia Burns, pastor of St. Andrew AME Church, will deliver the sermon at 3 p.m. Music will be provided by the Women’s Day Mass Choir.

True Vine “E” Missionary Baptist Church, 1001 E. Second Ave., will observe women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Barbara Warren of Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 1026 Missouri St., will hold a Women’s Day Tea from 2 – 3:30 p.m. Saturday. The guest speaker will be Cassandra Shaw of New Faith Missionary Baptist Church.

New Morning Star Baptist Church, 1026 Missouri St., will observe its annual women’s day Sunday with worship at 11 a.m. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be Margaret Boyd-Owens of First Missionary Baptist Church at Humphrey.

Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 8523 Princeton Pike Road, will observe women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Carolyn Ramsey, pastor of Destiny Worship Center at Pine Bluff.

Reynolds Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 706 S. Cypress St., will hold its annual women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Earnestine Murphy of Corinth Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill. Words of encouragement will be by Mattie Saunders, co-pastor of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church of Greenville, Miss. Women from Emmanuel will sing.

Revivals

Regular St. Marion District spring revival will be held at 7 p.m. Monday through Friday at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 600 E. 38th Ave., featuring Rev. A.T. Jordan of Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church of Nash, Texas, as the evangelist. Workshops will be conducted by Revs. Carl Williams, LeArthur Shelton and Derick Easter at 6:30 p.m.

Indiana Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1114 Indiana St., will hold spring revival at 7 p.m. on the following dates with these guest evangelists: Wednesday, Rev. Kirby Gulley, pastor of Eighth Avenue Baptist Church; Thursday, Rev. Stoney Shaw, pastor of New Faith Baptist Church; and Friday, Rev. Terry Brown, pastor of New Birth Baptist Church.

First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road, will host spring revival at 7 p.m. on the following dates with these guest speakers: Monday, Rev. Theodis Shelton of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church; Tuesday, Rev. Aaron Barnes of New Home Missionary Baptist Church; and Rev. Alvin Smith of St. John AME Church.

Special events

New Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 3800 Fir St., will offer a seminar on identifying abuse in children and adults at 11 a.m. Saturday. The presenter will be Jessie Clemmons of St. Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. The information is for anyone who works with children or the elderly.

Full Faith Christian Center, 1320 E. 17th Ave., will feature Rev. John Eaves, youth pastor at United Faith Christian Ministry in Stafford, Va., as the guest minister Sunday at 11 a.m.

Main Street Church of God in Christ, 2901 Main St., will hold its annual usher program Sunday at 7 p.m. Elder Lester Gaston of Main Street church will be the speaker.

New Home Missionary Baptist Church, 3000 S. Orange St., will hold its annual usher program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Robert Thomas of Christian Fellowship Church.

Cedar Branch Cemetery Association will hold its annual Memorial Day service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Cedar Branch Church. There will be singing and Carlin Gray will be the speaker. The business meeting will follow services and a pot luck lunch will be served.

Rock of Faith Deliverance Church, 3108 E. Third Ave. (Packingtown area), will hold deliverance service at 6 p.m. Sunday. The speakers will be the church pastors, Rufus and Frankie Dennis.

Barnes Temple, 10301 Princeton Pike, will hold its annual building fund day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Craig Banks, apostle of the Canaan Christian Center at Pine Bluff.

First Trinity Church of God in Christ, 800 S. Catalpa St., will hold a missions service at 7 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Elder Moses Chism, associate elder of East End Church of God in Christ. First Trinity has been involved in missions for more than 45 years in Haiti, the Bahamas, Philippines and South Africa.

Prayer Garden Church of God in Christ, 800 S. Apple St., will celebrate its 20th founder’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The speaker will be Elder Vincent Williams Sr., pastor of Divine Destiny Church of God in Christ.

Youth

Full Faith Christian Center, 11320 E. 17th Ave., will host a “Str8Talk Youth Revival” at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. This is a free event and all ages are welcomed to attend.

Young Minister’s Outreach Sunday will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday at St. John Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill. The guest speaker will be Rev. Justin Gettis, associate minister of True Vine “E” Missionary Baptist Church.
