Anniversaries/Annuals

Tabernacle Church of God in Christ, 2121 W. Havis St., will observe its anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Bishop Jewel R. Withers Sr., prelate of the Arkansas First Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ.

Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 6300 U.S. 79 South, will celebrate its 110th anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Ronald Laurent, pastor of First Baptist Church at Holly Grove.

Family Time Baptist Church and Ministries, 501 Ohio St., will host the 17th anniversary of the pastor and wife, Michael Williams Sr. and Pamela Williams, Sunday. At 9 a.m., the guest speaker will be Rev. Richard Bifford of Mt. Bayou Missionary Baptist Church. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be Rev. Frank Harris Jr., pastor of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church.

First Baptist Church at Gould will host the 16th anniversary of the pastor and wife, Rev. Isaac Barnes Sr. and Rosemary Barnes, at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. James Barnes Jr., pastor of New St. James Baptist Church at Pine Bluff.

Concerts/Musicals

Claud Road Baptist Church at White Hall will host 11th Hour in concert at 6 p.m. Saturday.

First Southern Baptist Church, 6111 Highway 270 East, will host the Hacketts in concert at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, followed by fellowship.

Traveler’s Rest Baptist Church at Grady will host a pre-anniversary musical in honor of the pastor, Rev. Climon James Lee, at 7 p.m. Friday, May 23.

Men’s/Women’s Day

Westside Missionary Baptist Church at Star City will hold its annual women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Walter Witherspoon Sr.

New Faith Baptist Church, 3800 S. Fir St., will observe its annual women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Betty Thomas of New United Baptist Church.

Amos Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 2401 Port Road, will host its annual men’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. Rev. Kirby Gulley, pastor of Eighth Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, will be the guest speaker.

Eternal Life Ministries, 503 Pryce St., will host women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. A minister, Patrice Johnson of Holy Tabernacle at Holly Grove, will be the guest speaker.

Greater Ward Chapel AME Church, 3700 W. Sixth Ave., will celebrate its annual women’s day Sunday at 11 a.m. with guest speaker, Shirley Sanders, bishop of Greater Deliverance Global Ministries. At 3 p.m., an Old Ship of Zion program will be held.

The Central District Baptist Association Laymen’s Department will sponsor the annual men’s day at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road. The guest speaker will be Rev. Glenn Barnes Sr., pastor of Pine Hill Baptist Church and moderator of the Central District.

The Greater St. Marion District Woman’s Auxiliary will host the annual women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 1801 Indiana St. The guest speaker will be Nina Glover, president of the Regular Arkansas Baptist Convention Woman’s Auxiliary.

St. Paul AME Church, 4143 Highway 190 East, will sponsor its annual men’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Chestine Sims, pastor of Union AME Church at Little Rock.

Mt. Pleasant AME Church, 1201 N. Magnolia St., will celebrate annual women’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Beverly White, pastor of Riverview and Conner Chapel AME churches in North Little Rock.

Annual women’s day will be celebrated at First Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer at 3 p.m. Sunday. Sandra Gaynor of Greater Deliverance Global Ministries, will be the guest speaker.

Union Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, 1121 Persimmon St., will hold its men’s and women’s day Sunday. At 11 a.m., the guest speaker will be Cynthia Howard, first lady of Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be Rev. Amelio Howard, pastor of Grace Temple.

The annual men’s and women’s day at Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church at Rison will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Sylvester Dunbar of Solomon Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

Revival

Revival services will be held at International House of Prayer, 4106 W. 12th Ave., at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday. The evangelist will be Rev. Sammie Smith Jr., pastor of Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church at Rison.

Special events

Traveler’s Rest Baptist Church at Grady will sponsor a pre-anniversary luncheon in appreciation of Melba Lee, wife of the pastor, Rev. Climon James Lee, at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 24, at the Plaza Hotel & Suites, 2 Convention Center Plaza.

Canaan Christian Center, 7890 Middle Warren Road, will celebrate friends and family day at 3 p.m., Sunday, May 25. The guest speaker will be Kenneth L. Robinson Sr., bishop of Antioch Full Gospel Baptist Church at Little Rock.

Solid Rock Missionary Baptist Church, 2915 S. Main St., will hold family and friends day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The featured speaker will be Rev. Walter Witherspoon of True Harvest Missionary Baptist Church at Dumas.

True Vine “E” Missionary Baptist Church, will host a Preacher to Preacher workshop from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

Bethel New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 2522 N. Pryce St., will host a minority health awareness event at 3 p.m. Sunday. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Joy Carrington of the Office of Minority Health at the Arkansas Department of Health, discussing health disparities. Participants and topics also include Sarah Hardin, SID awareness; Lakesha Collins-Webb, Jefferson County Health Unit; Tiffany Copeland, Pine Bluff School District’s After School Outreach Program; and Angela Turner of UAMS-AHEC.

New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church at Cornerstone will observe its family and friends day at 11 a.m. Sunday. The sermon will be by the pastor, Rev. Willie J. Laws Sr.

Old St. James Baptist Church, 1305 W. 16th Ave., will sponsor its usher annual at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Derick Easter, pastor of New St. Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church.

Happy Home Missionary Baptist Church at Jefferson will present a Women in Hats program at 3 p.m. Sunday. Guest speakers will be Rev. Damion Griffin of God’s Way Fellowship and Shelbie Williams of Happy Home.

The pastor and apostle Larry C. Nance Sr. and True Worshippers Apostolic Church, 106 N. Bloom St. in Packingtown will hold a memorial program for the late co-founder and prophetess, Rosemary Nance, at 2 p.m. Sunday. Kathleen Trotter, pastor of Little Hope Pentecostal Church at Yorktown, will be the speaker.

Reynolds Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 706 S. Cypress St., will host the annual mission program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest pastor will be Rev. George Toney, pastor of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church at Noble Lake.

The citywide mission will meet Monday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s Rock Missionary Baptist Church, 1201 Catalpa St.

Greater Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 3700 W. 13th Ave., will hold its annual mission program at 11 a.m. Sunday. The featured speaker will be Rev. Travis L. Harden, associate minister of the church.

Kings Highway Missionary Baptist Church, 2312 Fluker St., wil hold its annual mission service at 3 p.m. Sunday. The speaker will be Rev. Willie Rogers of St. Mark Missionary Baptists Church at Sherrill.

Almeta Missionary Baptist Church at Reedville will hold its annual mission program at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Rev. John Spicer, pastor of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church at Gould, will be the guest speaker.

Motley Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 794 St. Raphael Road, will celebrate its annual usher program at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Robert Iverson, pastor of Daniel Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Tamo.

The senior and junior ushers annual day will be observed at Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church at Dumas at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest minister will be Rev. Norvell Gooley, pastor of New Light Baptist Church at Tillar.

Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer will honor its 2014 graduates, Kebreanna Creggett, Danielle Johnson, Stepfun King and Keith Ridgle, in a special graduation ceremony during the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. James Rice Jr., associate minister of Greater Battle Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer.

Unity Temple Church of God in Christ, 4401 W. Sixth Ave., will have its annual Sunday school day beginning with Sunday school and prayer at 9 a.m. Sunday. The 11 a.m. guest speaker will be Wanda Jeter, a missionary.

The Women of the Bible program will be held at 11:15 a.m. Sunday at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church.

The 17th annual Lake Village District Convocation will be held at There Is Hope Church of God in Christ, 1003 E. Second Ave., at 7:30 p.m. on the following dates with these speakers Wednesday, Bishop J. Mason, prelate of the Arkansas Third Jurisdiction of the Churches of God in Christ; Thursday, Amanda Glass, district missionary; and Friday, Earl Glass, district superintendent.

There Is Hope Church of God in Christ, 1003 E. Second Ave., will celebrate the birthday of Amanda Glass, missionary, at 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Ruby Ford, overseer of Oasis of Love Church of God in Christ.

Youth

The youth choir of New Town Missionary Baptist Church, 3600 W. Second Ave., will be in concert at 3 p.m. Sunday.

The youth department of Bethel New Bethel Church, 2522 N. Pryce St., presents Holy Hop Hop Channel at 11 a.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. R.D. Howard of New Morning Star Baptist Church. Guests also include Old St. James Youth Choir.
