Anniversaries/Annuals

Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church at Dumas will celebrate the 20th appreciation of the pastor and wife, Rev. J.L. Morton and Iris Morton, Sunday. At 11 a.m., the guest speaker will be Rev. Samuel Bailey, associate minister of Thomas Chapel Baptist Church at Gould. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be Rev. Woodrow Jackson Sr., pastor of New United Missionary Baptist Church of Pine Bluff.

International House of Prayer, 4406 W. 12th Ave., will hold its 44th church anniversary at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Elder James Hunt.

New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 1026 Missouri St., will observe the eighth anniversary of the pastor and wife, Rev. and Mrs. Donald Agee, Sunday. At 11 a.m., the speaker will be Rev. Raeshawn Howard, associate minister of New Morning Star. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be Rev. Glenn Barnes, pastor of Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church of Pine Bluff.

Concerts/Musicals

Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 909 S. Wisconsin St., will hold its choir annual at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Gabriel Jackson of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.

True Vine “E” Missionary Baptist Church, 1001 W. Second Ave., will celebrate its eighth youth choir anniversary. The guest speaker will be Rev. Levell Bass, pastor of Regenerated Missionary Baptist Church at Pine Bluff.

Seven Star Missionary Baptist Church of Tillar will honor its first lady, Carnie L. Handley, at 6 p.m. Sunday with a musical. Various choirs and soloists will sing.

The Mercy River Boys will be in concert at Medowview Baptist Church, Highway 270 E near Sheridan, at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. The group has been singing Southern Gospel music for 11 years.

Choir rehearsal for the Central District Baptist Association Laymen Men’s Day will be held at 11 a.m. April 12 and April 26 at First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road. Refreshments will be served at St. Peter’s Rock Missionary Baptist Church, 1201 S. Catalpa St., after rehearsals. Laymen’s Men’s Day will be held May 17.

Men’s/Women’s Day

Bethlehem Worship Center Church in Dumas will sponsor its 2014 annual Women’s Conference starting with a prayer brunch at 9 a.m. Saturday. Speakers will be Gloria Alford from Eastside Deliverance Church of God in Christ, Alma Mallet from Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church and Dorneisha Boyd from New Commandment Church of God in Christ. Sunday, at 10:30 a.m. the speaker will be Linda Jones, first lady of Bethlehem Worship Center Church. At 3 p.m., the speaker will be Timberly Mixon, first lady of Victory Faith Church.

Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 1801 Indiana St., will sponsor Women’s Conference 2014. April 11 at 5:30 p.m., panelists will include Leatrice Glenns of Longley Missionary Baptist Church at Little Rock; Lola Thrower of Mercy Seat Missionary Baptist Church at Little Rock; Juanita Harris of New Jerusalem Missionary; and Rose Mary Eskridge of Pilgrim Progress Missionary Baptist Church at North Little Rock. On April 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Christian Education Classes will be instructed by Jackie Breamsey of First Baptist-Dew Drop; Cynthia Powell of Richmond, Va.; Lola Thrower; Johnnie Nelson of New Morning Star; Juanita Harris; and Sharon Fletcher of St. John.

The Greater St. Marion Women’s Auxiliary will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 1801 Indiana St. Lola Throw, co-director of Christian Education of the Regular Arkansas Baptist Convention Women’s Auxiliary, will conduct a workshop on “Preparing Mission-Minded Women to do the Work.”

St. Luke Missionary Baptist at Sherrill will observe Women’s Day at 3 p.m. Sunday. Valeria Penix will be the guest speaker.

Jerusalem No. 1 Missionary Baptist Church will hold its annual Women’s and Men’s Day at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. James Rice Jr., associate minister at Battle Chapel Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer.

St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church will hold its annual Men’s Day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Melvin Harrison, pastor of St. Ollie Baptist Church at Star City. Southeast Male Chorus will sing.

Revivals

True Vine “E” Missionary Baptist Church, 1001 W. Second Ave., will hold its annual revival at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. The guest evangelist will be Rev. Joe Henry Todd, pastor of Ephesians Missionary Baptist Church at Milwaukee, Wis.

Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 3006 Kentucky St., will host spring revival at 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. The guest evangelist will be Rev. Varnell Racy, pastor of Antioch Baptist Church at Tahlequah, Okla.

Oak Grove Baptist Church at Gethsemane will hold its annual usher program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Leroy Spears Jr., pastor of Union Baptist Church at Pine Bluff.

New Town Missionary Baptist Church, 3600 W. Second Ave., will host the Mission 2014 Conference from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Presenters will be Rev. Edward Sharp and Brandi Sharp of Antioch Baptist Church at Magnolia.

Special Events

New Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church at Cornerstone will observe its 64th annual Usher’s Day at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The guest pastor and church will be Rev. Robert Anderson and Mulberry Grove Missionary Baptist Church at Altheimer. All ushers are invited, but not required to wear their uniforms.

Damascus Missionary Baptist Church at Grady will sponsor a Pastor’s Aid Program honoring Rev. Robert Scott Sr. Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The sermon will be by Rev. W. Shelton, pastor of Motley Chapel Baptist Church in Pine Bluff.

Anointed Praise and Worship Ministries Inc., 2901 S. Willow St., presents the Resurrection Experience. At 6:30 p.m. Saturday, at 7 p.m. the service will feature an evangelist, Lilnetria Oneal of Full Council Ministries and the music ministry of Damar. Sunday, service begins at 3 p.m. with Rev. Jason Long of Faith Worship Center, and a missionary, Kay Lynn Johnston of Centennial Fellowship Church.

Rock of Faith Deliverance Church, 3108 E. Third Ave., (Packingtown area), will have deliverance service Sunday at 6 p.m. The guest speakers will be apostles Henry and Shirley (Glisper) Watson of Good News Destiny Deliverance Church of Little Rock.

New Home Missionary Baptist Church, 3000 S. Orange St., will host Thursday Night Live at 7 p.m. Thursday featuring Kenneth Robinson, bishop of Antioch Full Gospel Church at College Station, and the Antioch Praise Team.

New Salem Missionary Baptist Church at Sherrill will observe its annual Family Day celebration at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Joe Todd.

First Trinity Church of God in Christ, 800 S. Catalpa St., will host a mission service at 7 p.m. Sunday with the guest speaker, Earl Glass, superintendent and pastor of There Is Hope Church of God in Christ. First Trinity’s pastor, Dewitt Hill, has been working with home and foreign missions for more than 45 years.

Smith Chapel Baptist Church, 3004 Kentucky St., will host the Elena Mays Scholarship Banquet, presented by the Regular St. Marion Women’s Department, at 6 p.m. Saturday. The guest speaker will be Florida Wilkerson. The cost is $15.

The Church of Christ, 3909 W. Hepburn St., will host a Gospel meeting at 10:45 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday and at 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. The guest speaker will be Don McClain of Little Rock.

Greater Deliverance Global Ministry, No. 2 Convention Center Drive, the Plaza Inn, will host the “Lord, Teach Me How to Pray” book signing and wordshop Saturday at 10 a.m. with Connie Strickland, apostle, and Shirley Sanders, pastor. Registration is $20 and includes the book.

All Nations Tabernacle of God, 1115 Redbud St., will have a praise and worship service at 2 p.m. Sunday.

St. John Missionary Baptist Church at Mitchellville will offer the How to Have an Effective Ministry, course No. 8029, at 5 p.m. Sunday and at 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. The instructor will be Rev. B. Castle, pastor of Indiana Street Baptist Church of Pine Bluff.

Damascus Missionary Baptist Church, 224 N. Cypress St., will sponsor a Mission Conference Extravaganza at 1 p.m. Saturday. Milton Gardner will present “Drawing the Multitude to God’s Kingdom,” and Juvita Armstrong will present “Fullfilling the Needs of the Unreachable.” The business representation will be CASA Women’s Shelter.

Pleasant View Ministries, 1117 N. Palm St., will host Leonard and Jessie Ford of the Reality of the Gospel World Outreach Ministries of Little Rock at 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Youth

First Missionary Baptist Church at Ladd will celebrate its annual Youth Day Sunday at 3 p.m. Guests include Liberty Faith Church, Gospel Rapper YB, Old St. James Youth Choir, Pastor’s Little Angels and Mt. Zion Youth Choir of Altheimer.

Sulphur Springs United Methodist Church, 9238 Sulphur Springs Road, will sponsor Game Day from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday. There will be all types of games, fellowship, prizes, food and a worship celebration led by the youth. There will also be a competition between youth leaders. Participants are asked to bring coins and all proceeds will help benefit Imagine No Malaria and the Youth Service Fund.
