Anniversaries/Annuals

Polk Chapel Missionary Baptist Church of Yorktown will observe its fifth anniversary honoring Rev. Alvin and Tammy Newburn at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Pastor Glenn Barnes of Pine Hill Baptist Church.

God’s Way Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 1601 Commerce Road, will hold its annual choir day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Pastor David Marks of Cherry Hill Baptist Church. Also from 12 to 3 p.m. Friday, April 18, will hold its annual Good Friday service and a 91st birthday celebration honoring Rev. Selma L. Moore.

Indiana Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1114 Indiana St., will hold its annual ushers program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Melvin Graves of Newton Baptist Church.

Living Word Baptist Church, 5617 Sulphur Springs Road, will observe its second anniversary honoring Rev. and Mrs. Terrance Williams at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Pastor Lee Coleman of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church of Lonoke.

Eudora Missionary Baptist Church of Altheimer will observe its third anniversary honoring Rev. Wiley Crumpton, assistant pastor, at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Craig Woolfolk, associate pastor of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church of Moscow.

Mulberry Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 719 S. Ohio St., will hold its annual usher program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Pastor Robert Anderson of Mulberry Grove Missionary Baptist Church of Altheimer.

Amos Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 2401 Port Road, will hold its annual choir day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. P.C. Holly of Mt. Zion Churches of Dumas and McGehee. The guest choirs will be Holly Connection, Mt. Zion, New Jerusalem and Orange Chapel Choirs.

Scent of Pure Oil Church of Ladd will host its sixth pastor celebration honoring Linda Stricklen at 5 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Bishop Shirley Sanders of Greater Deliverance Global Ministry.

First Trinity Church of God in Christ, 800 S. Catalpa St., will hold its annual Good Friday service at 12 p.m. Friday. The speakers will include Elder Daryl White, Evangelist Barbara Deloney, District Missionary Wanda Jones, Evangelist Jackie Phillips of Crossett and Elder Darrell Sanders of Malvern. Music will be rendered by the Mass Choir, featuring Soloist Michelle Johnson.

St. John Missionary Baptist Church of Sherrill will observe its 18th anniversary honoring Rev. J.Y. Williams Jr., Sunday starting at 11 a.m. and the guest speaker will be Rev. Derick Mustiful, associate minister of True Vine “E” Missionary Baptist Church. Also, the guest speaker at 3 p.m. service will be Rev. Gabriel Jackson, pastor of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church.

Seven Star Missionary Baptist Church of Tillar will observe its 14th anniversary honoring Rev. and Mrs. J.B. Handley Sunday starting at 11 a.m. with Rev. Andrew Beal, pastor of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church of Pickens as the guest speaker. Also, the guest speaker at 3 p.m. will be Rev. Timothy Jones of Bethlehem Church of Dumas.

Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Faith will observe its fourth appreciation program honoring Rev. John and Tonya Farris Sunday starting at 11 a.m. with Rev. Germaine Smith of Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church as the guest speaker. Also, at 3 p.m. service the guest speaker will be Apostle Patrick Lockett of New Community Church.

Kings Highway Missionary Baptist Church, 2312 Fluker St., will hold its annual Good Friday service at 6:30 p.m. Friday.

Kingdom Builders Outreach Church of God in Christ, 3105 S. Apple St., will hold its ninth church anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Pastor William J. Johnson of East End Church of God in Christ.

Lampkin Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1200 E. 26th St., will observe its 16th pastoral anniversary honoring Pastor LeArthur D. Shelton Sr. and family starting at 10:30 a.m. Sunday with Associate Minister Robert Key. Also, at 3 p.m. the guest speaker will be Dr. John Johnson of Pilgrim Home Missionary Baptist Church. Dinner will be served following the afternoon service.

Men’s/Women’s Day

Corinth Missionary Baptist Church of Sherrill will hold its annual men and women’s day celebration at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Carla Perry-Johnson, pastor of Cherry Street AME Church. The Women United for Christ will be the featured guest.

Morris Chapel Missionary Baptist Church of Sherrill will hold its annual men’s day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Clark Thomas, pastor of New Salem Missionary Baptist Church of Sherrill.

Spiritual Temple Church of God in Christ will hold its annual women’s day program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Evangelist Lynn Washington and the colors will be purple or silver attire. Also, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday its Women’s Conference will be held. Registration for adults will be $15 and young adults (13-17) $5.

Concerts/Musicals

Freedom Baptist Church of Altheimer will hold a musical benefit program honoring Ben Holmes and Ricky McDowell at 7 p.m. Saturday, sponsored by The Southeast Arkansas Community Mass Choir.

Revivals

Mulberry Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 719 S. Ohio St., will hold its spring revival at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. The guest speaker will be Lorenzo Jones, associate minister of Kings Highway Missionary Baptist Church.

St. John AME Church, 1117 W. Pullen St., will host a holy week revival at 6 p.m. with the following speakers on these dates: Monday, Rev. Jonas Williams; Tuesday, Rev. Denise McDonald; Wednesday, Rev. Antony Hobbs and Thursday, David Vaughn Jr. Also, at 6 p.m. Friday will hold a special seven last words Good Friday service.

Travelers Rest Baptist Church of Grady will host holy week services at 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. The speakers will be Pastor Climon Lee and Associate Ministers; Bruce Johnson, William Eldridge, Audrea Johnson and Gregory Lee. The special guests on Good Friday will be the Sunshine Council of the Lady Knights Templars, Scottish Rites Affiliate.

Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, 3201 W. 2nd Ave., will hold revival services at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Gilbert Byrd of Allen Temple of Stuttgart.

Church on the Rock, 5500 Dollarway Road, will be celebrating Jesus day with free hotdogs and cokes at 11 a.m. Saturday. Also, at 7 p.m. Good Friday will hold revival service with Richard Cooley as the speaker.

St. Peter and St. Raphael Communities, 207 E. 16th Ave., will hold holy week services on the following dates and times: Thursday at 6:30 p.m., Good Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Easter Sunday Masses at 9 a.m. in English and at 11 a.m. in Spanish. Also, there will be an Easter egg hunt at 12:30 p.m. Easter Sunday and St. Justin Star City at 2 p.m. bilingual.

New Hope Missionary Baptist Church of Moscow will hold holy week services at 7 p.m. with the following speakers on these dates: Monday, Rev. Robert Willis of Amos Chapel Missionary Baptist Church; Tuesday, Rev. Larry Alexander of St. Peters Rock Missionary Baptist Church; Wednesday, Rev. Ernest Jenkins of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church; Thursday, Rev. Donald Manning of Thomas Chapel Missionary Baptist Church; Friday, Rev. Leon Williams of True Vine “E” Missionary Baptist Church and Saturday, Rev. Charles Helloms of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Also, the Sunday sunrise service will be at 6 a.m. with Rev. Woodrow Jackson Jr., of Timothy Chapel Missionary Baptist Church as the speaker.

Fill the Gap Coalition presents holy week revival at Bethel New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 2522 N. Pryce St., at 7 p.m. with the following speakers on these dates: Wednesday — lecturer, Melvin Graves, pastor of New Town Baptist Church; sermon by Frank Harris, pastor of New Jerusalem Baptist Church; Thursday — lecturer, Derrick Easter, pastor of New St. Hurricane Baptist Church, sermon by Carlos L. Kelly, pastor of New Hope Baptist Church of Conway; Friday — lecturer, Terry Brown, pastor of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, sermon by Kelly.

Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church of Dumas will hold revival at 7 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Dexter McDonnell of God’s Way Fellowship Church.

Special Events

Naomi Court #48 of the Heroines of Jericho and other courts, Scottish Rites Affiliate will observe Palm Sunday at Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church, 3201 W. 2nd Ave., at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Pastor Larry Battles will be the speaker.

Church Without Walls Kingdom Center of Watson will hold its Kingdom family gathering at 7 p.m. Friday. The guest speaker will be Prophet Daniel Pringle of Dallas, TX.

The laymen of the Consolidated St. Marion District Association will meet at 9 a.m. Saturday at Barnett Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 1321 N. Birch St.

Choir rehearsals for the Central District Baptist Association laymen men’s day to be held in May will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday and Saturday, April 26, at First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road. Refreshments will be served at St. Peter’s Rock Missionary Baptist Church, 1201 S. Catalpa St., following rehearsals.

Greater Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 3700 W. 13th Ave., will hold its building fund program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Phillip Puckett, minister of Thomas Chapel Missionary Baptist Church of Gould.

First Southern Baptist, 6111 Highway 270 East, will present its Easter programs Sunday starting at 10:45 a.m. with the children’s program and at 5 p.m. with the youth and adult program.
