Anniversaries/Annuals

Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 900 S. Grant St., will host the eighth anniversary celebration of Leon and Gloria Warren, pastor and co-pastor of Liberty Faith Church and Ministries, at 3 p.m. Sunday. The speaker will be Rev. Anthony Craig, pastor of Mt. Carmel church.

International House of Praise, 1002 E. Eighth Ave., will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the pastor and co-pastor, Willie and Carla Edwards. Guest speakers include Gregory Eichelberger, pastor of New Genesis Apostolic Fellowship Ministry of Dermott, at 7 p.m. April 25, and Louis Ross, pastor of Hosanna Christian Center Ministry of Pine Bluff, at 7 p.m. April 26. On April 27 at 4 p.m., the featured speaker will be Jackie Rainey, pastor of Jesus Way International Ministry of Little Rock.

Concerts/Musicals

First Southern Baptist Church, 6111 Highway 270 East, will host the Nelson Family of Clinton in a Bluegrass Gospel concert, at 6:30 p.m. Saturday. A fellowship will be held after the concert.

First Church of the Nazarene at Hot Springs will sponsor a gospel concert at 6 p.m. April 19 benefiting the Lupus Foundation of America’s Arkansas Chapter. Guests include Dwayne L. Lindsey of Faith Temple Full Gospel Church, Women of Royalty and Integrity.

Revivals

Resurrection Revival 2014 will be held at Barnes Temple Church of God in Christ, Route 6 Princeton Pike, at 7 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. Tuesday, Gail Stith, will be the guest evangelist, and Wednesday, Joe L. Stocker, superintendent, will be the guest speaker.

Reynolds Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, 706 S. Cypress St., will begin its annual spring revival, at 7 p.m. Sunday, with guest evangelist Rev. R.C. Barnes, pastor of Ash Street Missionary Baptist Church of Dermott. At 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, the guest evangelist will be the Rev. W.R. Boone, mid-west regional director of the home and foreign missions department of the National Baptist Convention USA Inc.

St. Paul AME Church, 4143 Highway 190 East, will sponsor spring revival on these dates with the following speakers at 7 p.m. — Wednesday, Elder Lawrence Hobbs, pastor of Grapevine Church of God in Christ; Thursday, Rev. Duane Jackson of Kingdom of God Ministries; Friday, Rev. Marcia Burns, pastor of St. Andrew AME Church.

Travelers Rest Baptist Church at Grady will host a spring fellowship revival will at 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Guest evangelists will be Climon Lee of Travelers Rest, Norvell Gooley of New Light Church, Charles James of Havis Chapel Church and P.C. Holley of Mt. Zion churches at Dumas and McGehee.

Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, 8523 Princeton Pike Road, will hold spring revival at 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday with guest evangelist, Rev. Walter Witherspoon, pastor of True Harvest Missionary Baptist Church of Dumas. Lecturers include Tuesday, Rev. Willie Rogers; Wednesday, Rev. George Waters; and Thursday, Rev. Stoney Shaw.

Special events

The Dr. Robert L. Handley Life Center, 812 E. Harding Ave., will host the Consolidated St. Marion Baptist District Association annual Spring Banquet at 6:30 p.m. Friday. The guest speaker will be Rev. R.B. Holmes Jr., pastor of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church at Tallahassee, Fla.

Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist Church at Moscow, will celebrate its annual usher program at 3 p.m. Sunday. The guest preacher and church will be Rev. Samuel Fells of Calvary No. 1 Missionary Baptist Church at Dermott.

Bethany Chapel Church, 1923 S. Olive St., will host the first sermon of Rev. Martin Richards of Pine Bluff at 5 p.m. Saturday.

Prairie Lake Missionary Baptist Church, 2611 Indiana St., will present the first sermon of Rev. Larry Taggart at 3 p.m. Sunday.

The City Wide Mission will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Rose Hill Baptist Church, 2121 W. 26th Ave.

A fellowship service and dinner will be held at the Dumas Singing Center in honor of the Golden Harts at 3 p.m. Sunday. Words of encouragement and musical selections will be presented.

Easter services

Newbirth Baptist Church, 401 E. Fifth Ave., will hold its Easter service at 10 a.m. Sunday. The youth ministry will also present its Easter program during worship service.

Judah Restoration Worship Center, 2401 S. Main St., will feature “Embracing the Power of the Resurrection” at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Mt. Nebo Baptist Church, 3201 W. Second Ave., will observe its annual Easter program at 10 a.m. Sunday followed by worship at 11 a.m.

Mt. Nebo and New Town Baptist churches will hold a joint sunrise service at New Town Baptist Church, 3600 W. Second Ave., at 6 a.m. Sunday. The speaker will be Rev. Larry Battles of Mt. Nebo.

First Trinity Church of God in Christ, 800 S. Catalpa St., will present an Easter Sunrise Service production entitled “Triumph at the Tomb” at 6 a.m. Sunday. Guests include Rev. Xavier Diamond, associate minister of St. Peter’s Rock Missionary Baptist Church at Dumas; Ann Gardner, soloist; and Jamel Brewer, saxophonist of the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Jazz Band. Breakfast will be served after service.

Ezekiel Missionary Baptist Church, 121 W. Martin St., announces a Resurrection service at 10 a.m. Sunday. The youth department will present a skit, “He Lives,” and the guest speaker will be Rev. Larry Rogers, pastor of Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church at Gould.

Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 909 S. Wisconsin St., will sponsor an Easter Sunrise Service at 6 a.m. Sunday. The speaker will be Rev. Amelio P. Howard, Grace Temple’s pastor.

Sunrise service will be held at New St. Hurricane Missionary Baptist Church, 3319 Ohio St., at 7 a.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Rickey Lawson.

Almeta Missionary Baptist Church at Reedville will sponsor Easter Sunrise Service at 6 a.m. Sunday. The guest pastor will be Rev. T.R. Ramey of St. John Missionary Baptist Church at Mitchellville. A fellowship breakfast will be served after service.

The Church on the Rock, 5500 Dollarway Road, will host Easter revival and services. Sandy Sims Grom of Beebe will be the guest speaker at 7 p.m. Saturday. On Sunday, Easter services begin at 11 a.m. followed by an egg hunt and another service at 6 p.m.

St. Luke United Methodist Church, 32 School St., will celebrate Easter on Saturday starting with an egg hunt for children 1 to 10 years old at 11:30 a.m. A free lunch will be offered at 12:30 p.m. and an Easter egg scavenger hunt will start at 1 p.m. for children 11 to 14 years old. On Sunday, sunrise service begins at 6:30 a.m., breakfast and children’s time at 7:45 a.m., and worship begins at 9:30 a.m. featuring Rev. Mark Norman as the speaker.

Barraque Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1800 W. Pullen St., will have an Easter sunrise service at 6 a.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Darren Edgerson of St. Peter’s Rock Missionary Baptist Church.

Westside Missionary Baptist Church at Star City will host sunrise service at 6 a.m. Sunday with Rev. A.L. Brown of Mt Nebo Missionary Baptist Church delivering the sermon. A fellowship breakfast will follow services.

First Missionary Baptist Church, 4500 Faucett Road, will present the annual Easter program during worship service at 11 a.m. Sunday.

Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 2121 W. 26th Ave., will present a sunrise service at 6 a.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Rev. Aaron Barnes of New Home Missionary Baptist Church.

Youth

Westside Missionary Baptist Church at Star City will observe its annual youth day at 3 p.m. Sunday. The sermon will be by Rev. James Spinks, pastor of Brooks Chapel Missionary Baptist Church of Monticello.
