Sarah Hagood, a sophomore majoring in business administration/marketing at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff recently completed a 10-week summer internship at the Topeka VA Medical Center in Topeka, Kan.
Hagood heard about and applied for the internship through UAPB’s Office of Career Services.
“This was my first internship while attending UAPB and it definitely made me want to participate in more,” Hagood said.
At the Topeka VA Medical Center, Hagood worked in the Nutrition and Food Services Department. She was responsible for creating menu fact cards that showed the nutrients of the meal, planning a Dinner and a Show event in the cafeteria for veterans, producing bulletin boards to strengthen employee communication and taking photographs for future VA publications.
“Meeting new people and working with the staff in my department is what I enjoyed most about this internship. My co-workers were extremely helpful and truly made the experience worthwhile,” Hagood said. “This summer I had the opportunity to work on my interpersonal skills as well as refine the technical skills needed for my career path.”
