The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff will unveil a new logo during the investiture ceremony of Chancellor Laurence B. Alexander.
The investiture ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 25, at the Pine Bluff Convention Center auditorium. The logo will be unveiled at the end of Alexander’s investiture address.
“An investiture is the formal ceremony wherein the formal authority and symbols of high office are conferred upon the new leader. It is typically held during the new chancellor’s first year in office, or at the conclusion of the first year,” a spokesman said.
Colleges and universities view investitures as opportunities to welcome a new era and celebrate as a community. The unveiling of the new logo will physically mark the beginning of a new era for UAPB.
More than 750 people are expected to attend the investiture ceremony, an event that hasn’t been held since 1983 for then-chancellor Lloyd Hackley.
Created by The Design Group of Little Rock, the new logo uses a combination of the historic W.E. O’Bryant Bell Tower and a contemporary approach to text configuration. Over the next six to eight weeks, the logo will be applied to all communication outlets for UAPB. The current logo — a seal that depicts the bell tower and name changes for the institution — will be delegated for use in executive communications and affixed to formal documents (degrees, certificates, etc.).
