UAPB to Observe World AIDS Day

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff HIV/AIDS Peer Educators (HAPE), in collaboration with the Delta Region AIDS Education and Training of JCCSI, will have a series of events Dec. 2-3. This will mark the 25th anniversary of World AIDS Day.

The observance will begin with a kick-off Dec. 1 at 3 p.m. with an AIDS walk in The Pines mall café court. Sponsored by the Pine Bluff Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., registration is $5 per person.

Dec. 2 a program in the L.A. Davis Sr. Student Union Lounge at 11 a.m. will be held followed by a balloon release and block party. Area health representatives will be on hand to talk with the community about how to protect themselves and others from HIV, stigma and discrimination concerning the condition and what the community can do to eradicate this pandemic. The program is free and open to the public.
