UAPB to host black history program

The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and the Pine Bluff Arsenal will present a black history program at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13 in the J.M. Ross theatre of the Hathaway-Howard Fine Arts building. The event is free and open to the public.

The featured speaker will be Army Maj. Gen. Aundree F. Piggee. A native of Stamps, Piggee currently serves as the director of logistics and engineering at United States Central Command here he is responsible for planning, synchronizing and controlling the efforts of the Joint Logistics and Engineering Enterprise in support of Central Command missions throughout Southwest Asia, the Central Asian States and the entire Central Command Area of Responsibility.

Piggee was commissioned into the Army in 1981 from the UAPB, where he graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate with a bachelor of science degree in biology. He has a master of science degree in material acquisition management from the Florida Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in Military Strategy from the Army War College.
