Turner selected as Justice Sunday ambassador

The National Alliance of Faith and Justice in Washington, D.C. has selected the Rev. Jesse C. Turner of Pine Bluff as the Arkansas Ambassador for the 10th Annual National Commemoration of Justice Sunday, to be observed on Jan. 19, 2014.

A news release said that Justice Sunday “offers cities and communities nationwide a key benchmark in efforts to dismantle inequities, advocate solutions and alternatives to violence, and recognize the selfless service of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as a clergy and the role of volunteers of diverse faiths who work to achieve human dignity and equality.”

“I am honored to commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and serve as an ambassador to promote his legacy, not just as a civil rights pioneer, but as a member of the clergy,” Turner said in the news release.
