Summer youth, crime prevention event set

Helping Young People Excel will host the second annual Summer Palooza & Youth Crime Prevention Summit from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at College Heights Church of Christ, 1313 N. Magnolia St.

HYPE is a program for at-risk children offering them one-on-mentorship services, leadership development and community resource programs.

Saturday’s activities will include a water slide, face painting, cake walk, McGruff the Crime Dog, representatives of the Pine Bluff police and fire departments and county sheriff’s department.

Speakers include Mayor Debe Hollingsworth and Earnest Franklin of North Pointe Dixie Church of Christ.
