The Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Clean & Beautiful Commission along with the Jefferson County Recycling will host an America Recycles Day Event at Saracen Landing from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15.
The event will be held in conjunction with a Lake Saracen Area Clean up sponsored by the Lake Saracen Project Association with two areas being targeted. One will be at King Street at the lake area and the other will be behind the former site of the UAPB Chancellor’s home, what is now called UAPB Golden Lion’s Park and also the walking trail.
Trash bins, trash bags, gloves, vests and other items will be available for the cleanup, which will be held from 8:30 am until noon.
Events at Saracen Landing will include a shred-it event for personal documents, an electronic waste event where people can drop off anything from TVs to a cell phone. The Lion’s Club table will accept eyeglasses that can be recycled, and a Neighbor to Neighbor will hold a coat drive. A sheriff’s department unit will accept prescription drugs.
There will be activities for children to play and also to learn about recycling.
At noon volunteers will be served hot dogs and drinks at Saracen Landing. Door prizes will also be available, courtesy of the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission’s Stream Team.
For more information for the recycling event please contact Kelli Kennedy at 543.4901.
Volunteers are needed for the clean-up. Call Ms. Horton at the Mayor’s office at 730-2000 ext. 7 to sign up.
