An Arbor Day ceremony will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 3, to celebrate Pine Bluff being honored as a Tree City USA. The ceremony will be held at the waterfront facility in Regional Park.
Mayor Debe Hollingsworth announced the honor in a press release Thursday.
“It is the first time Pine Bluff has received this national recognition,” she said. “The Tree City USA honor comes from the National Arbor Day Foundation, a nonprofit education organization dedicated to tree planting and environmental stewardship,” Hollingsworth said.
During Saturday’s ceremony, Hollingsworth will be reading the proclamation of Arbor Day. Jerry Lynn of the Arkansas Forestry Commission will present the Tree City USA flag and other recognition materials to Hollingsworth for the city.
