Pine Bluff CARES sets mentoring training, recruitment

As part of the mentor recruitment commitment, Pine Bluff CARES will hold a training and recruitment event Monday at 6 p.m. at 2315 S. Olive St.

According to Rev. Jesse C. Turner, executive director of Interested Citizens for Voter Registration, Pine Bluff CARES is reaching out to leaders in faith, civic, professional and academic and community organizations to join in a group meeting and training.

The PEN OR PENCIL mentoring is working in 11 other cities besides Pine Bluff to implement the Pen or Pencil initiative. Working with the founder, Susan L. Taylor, of the National CARES Mentoring Movement, the leadership team has designed this special training and recruitment strategy.

Beginning Monday and on every Monday through the end of May, Pine Bluff CARES will host calls with some of the nation’s most brilliant and inspiring leaders who also love children and community. Michael Eric Dyson will begin the training and recruitment dialogue at 6 p.m. this Monday.

Prior to coming to Pine Bluff CARES, participants are asked to register by emailing communications@caresmentoring.org.
