Vernita Lee, an English teacher at Jack Robey Junior High School, was recently selected as the 2014 Pine Bluff School District Teacher of the Year.
Lee, who has been a secondary English/English Language Arts educator for 19 years, had previously worked for the PBSD for eight years and returned this school year.
She has a Bachelor’s degree in English Education from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University.
“I was shocked to have been chosen District Teacher of the Year because there are some outstanding teachers in the district. It is such an honor to be considered among them,” Lee said.
Lee said her favorite aspect of teaching is having a great lesson that excites the students, and they actually get the deeper meaning that adds value to their lives.
