PB, NLR students participate in prestigious music camp

Alex Small, 15, of Pine Bluff and Durham Hill, 16, of North Little Rock attended the prestigious New England Music Camp this summer in Sidney, Maine.

Alex Small, a violin student of local teacher Tatiana Kotcherguina, said, “It really was a time of growth and NEMC was a wonderful experience.”

Durham Hill plays French horn in the North Little Rock High School-West band under the direction of Geoff Robson and studies with local teacher David Renfro.

Both Hill and Small auditioned and won the opportunity to perform in NEMC Honor Recitals. Lorraine Duso Kitts, oboist in the Arkansas Symphony and associate professor at the University of Central Arkansas, a member of the faculty at NEMC since 1999 said, “I was so proud of the way these gentleman represented the State of Arkansas with their musicianship. They brought their southern hospitality to the northeast and, if brotherhood is the theme of NEMC, they fit the model.”
