Linda L. Okiror has been selected as the associate vice chancellor for enrollment managementat the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
Okiror is a former associate dean for UAPB’s School of Agriculture, Fisheries and Human Sciences. In her new position, she is responsible for the development and leadership of programs that create opportunities for the recruitment of new students and the success and retention of continuing students at UAPB with an understanding for the culturally diverse environment of higher education and an appreciation for students’ backgrounds, experiences and potential.
“Dr. Okiror’s experience as a professor and administrator in the trenches on student success has positioned her for outstanding leadership in growing our student enrollment and helping students succeed to graduation,” said UAPB Chancellor Laurence B. Alexander.
Okiror brings to the Division of Student Affairs 17 years of academic experience from her previous position and more than five years of involvement with enrollment management, said Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Elbert Bennett.
Okiror holds a Ph.D in crop physiology from the University of Minnesota and master’s of education degree from Trenton State College in Trenton, N.J. She has been employed at UAPB since 1996. She has served the university as a member of the enrollment management administrative team since 1998. She is the 2008 founder and director of Learning Institute and Opportunities for New Students (LIONS) Program, director of education assessment and associate vice chancellor for enrollment management and student success.
She has authored and co-authored grants in support of student success and faculty development of more than $1.5 million and has more than 15 years’ experience with summer bridge programs and programs for faculty development.
