Derrick Newby Sr. was reappointed to the Arkansas State Board of Sanitarians July 17 by Gov. Mike Beebe. He was sworn in July 22 by Jefferson County Judge Dutch King in his office.
Newby’s appointment continues until June 30, 2019.
He has been program administrator at Jefferson Comprehensive Care Systems Inc. for 14 years.
“I am honored by this appointment and pleased that the governor recognized my willingness to serve the public,” Newby said. “I learned a lot during my first term and I will continue to serve diligently.”
The mission of the State Board of Sanitarians is to protect the public welfare by establishing and maintaining a high standard of integrity and dignity in the profession of Sanitarian.
Newby is an Army veteran where he served in the quarter master corps and he holds a Master’s degree in public administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. He is the president of Interested Citizens for Voter Registration.
