Morris graduates basic combat training


Army National Guard Pvt. Phillip L. Morris has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson at Columbia, S.C.

Morris is the son of Lisa Smith of Little Rock and grandson of Eddie-Mae Sanders of Pine Bluff. He is a 2013 graduate of Central High School at Little Rock.

During the nine weeks of training, Morris studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.
