Grants for Jenkins’ Ferry Battlefield projects were among $11,550 in grants awarded Thursday to projects that commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, Arkansas Civil War Sesquicentennial Commission Chairman Tom Dupree announced.
The Grant County Museum received $575 for “Connecting the Dots to the Battle of Jenkins’ Ferry: Students Trace Back an A’MAZEing 150 Years” and Friends of Jenkins’ Ferry Battlefield received $2,000 for the April 26-27 sesquicentennial commemoration of the battle.
Civil War Sesquicentennial Grants of up to $2,000 are awarded four times per year, as funding is available. The next deadline is Friday, February 14.
