HYPE holds scavenger hunt in PB

HYPE (Helping Young People Excel), a youth mentorship program sponsored by College Heights Church of Christ, hosted its downtown Scavenger Hunt on Saturday, Sept. 21. The children, accompanied by mentors, explored the Main Street area of Pine Bluff. Personnel from the Arts and Science Center, Pine Bluff Regional Chamber of Commerce and Simmons First National Bank greeted the children with goodie bags, tours, and information as the children visited and learned about the agencies. The actual scavenger hunt followed, which included the children locating and taking snapshots of the Pines Hotel and two murals. Their to-do list also consisted of getting a quote from “Pops” at Pop’s Barbershop, collecting two autographs belonging to downtown business owners, gathering five cents’ worth of loose change, and taking a group photo on the steps of the Jefferson County Courthouse. HYPE reaches out to children ages 5-18. To enroll your child, contact Tomekia Moore at 870-872-2229.
