The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Chapter of Gamma Sigma Delta, the honor society of agriculture, recently honored nine members for their achievements.
Janette R. Wheat, assistant professor and interim chair of the UAPB Department of Human Sciences, and Sixte Ntamatungiro, associate professor in the Department of Agriculture, were honored for excellence in teaching. Muthusamy Manoharan received the Faculty Excellence Award of Merit for his outstanding work in teaching, research and service.
Mohammad Madsud Morshed Hossain of Dhaka, Bangladesh; Yujie Huant of Luzhou Sichuan, China and Suresh Pokhrel of Chitway, Nepal were recognized for their academic excellence with the Graduate Academic Achievement Award, given to graduate students who have a cumulative grade point average of 4.0.
Undergraduate honorees were Shreka Shaw, a junior agriculture business major from Pine Bluff, and Chanise Gollatt, a senior animal science major from Mabelvale. Undergraduate awardees must be on the Dean’s List for academic achievement and maintain a grade point average of 3.50 or better.
The UAPB chapter of Gamma Sigma Delta awarded Linda Okiror, associate vice chancellor for enrollment management, the Distinguished Service Award. Okiror was instrumental in reviving the UAPB chapter.
