Higher Learning VP to speak at UAPB


Linnea A. Stenson, Ph.D., vice president for accreditation relations for the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association will be the featured speaker at the 2014 Fall Faculty/Staff Seminar at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

Stenson will appear during the opening session Aug. 18 that runs from 8:30 - 11:45 a.m. in the J.M. Ross auditorium of the fine arts building. The event continues Aug. 19.

Stenson, who joined the commission in December 2013, brings 30 years of higher education experience.

Stenson was the program director of Steven J. Schochet Center for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) Studies at the University of Minnesota. For 10 years, she served as academic dean for liberal arts departments and career programs at Minneapolis Community and Technical College, providing leadership, budget preparation and management, curricular administration, and annual program reviews.

A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Augustana College in Rock Island, Stenson received an M.A. and Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota.
