Arkansas Post National Memorial’s 19th Annual Ghosts of the Past program will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday.
Your guide will take you back in time as you stroll down the luminary-lined trail around Park Lake and observe history come to life. Watch and listen as ghosts of the past depict life in and around the Lower Mississippi Valley’s earliest European settlement and the first capital of the Arkansas Territory.
This year’s guests range from fur traders to Spanish soldiers guarding against English raiders in 1783 with a very popular cannon demonstration. The event will continue through the Civil War and close with African-American musical renditions. Refreshments will be served at the Visitor Center. Reservations are strongly recommended and can be made by calling (870) 548-2207. Admission is free and families are welcome. Tours begin at 6 p.m. and depart the Visitor Center every 15 minutes. Tours last approximately one hour. The last tour departs at 8:30 p.m. Tours, trails, and buildings are wheelchair accessible. A limited number of wheelchairs are available for loan.
