Forestry Commission providing chainsaw, dozer support during storm

Arkansas Forestry Commission crews were put on alert Thursday for the possibility of chainsaw and dozer response needs, should counties request assistance. Since winter weather accumulation began, three crews have responded as follows:

• The Logan County AFC crew worked with residents early Friday morning using chainsaws to clear a road so that a family member could be taken to the hospital. Later, this same county crew brought chainsaws and a dozer to help clear back roads in rural Logan County of slush and debris — near Brushy Mountain Road.

• The Sebastian AFC crew worked in the south part of the county early this morning with chainsaws to begin clearing roads — near Hartford.

• The Polk County AFC crew is working with chainsaws and a dozer to clear roads — near Eagle Mountain.

All three crews are still working in these areas. See the latest updates at the AFC Facebook page at facebook.com/ArkansasForestryCommission or visit www.forestry.arkansas.gov. To report a wildfire, call the AFC Dispatch Center at 1-800-468-8834. To report an emergency, dial 911.
