Members of the Desha County Compassionate Friends are making plans to join the National Compassionate Friends in the 17th year Worldwide Candle Lighting Remembrance, which will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, when candles will be lighted in memory of all children.
A memorial roll with the children’s names and pictures will be displayed during the Desha County Compassionate Friends Candle Lighting Remembrance Program and Banquet from 6-8 p.m. at the Dumas Community Center. There is no admission. The Candle Light Banquet is a gift to the bereaved parents and their families during this season of the year. Supportive friends are also invited to attend this event. There is no admission.
If planning to attend, participants are asked to RSVP by Wednesday, Dec. 4, and provide the name of the child/children and how many will be attending at: 870-382-4863, 870-382-6203 or 870-377-7422.
Compassionate Friends who would like to have a child’s name on the memorial roll or picture on the Memory Board, may mail the child’s name, birth date, death date, picture and parents’ name by Wednesday, Dec. 4, to Desha County Compassionate Friends, P.O. Box 482, Dumas, AR 71639. All pictures will be returned. Pictures and information may also be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Desha County Compassionate Friends is a national nonprofit, self-help support organization that offers friendship, understanding and hope to bereaved parents, grandparents and siblings grieving the death of a child of any age, from any cause. There is no membership fee. However, anyone who wishes to give a donation in memory of a child may do so. Checks may be made payable to Desha County Compassionate Friends and mailed to Desha County Compassionate Friends, P. O. Box 482, Dumas, AR 71639.
