Dell-Cam Farm to host 2014 Model Farm tour July 17

Dewayne Goldmon, owner and operator of Dell-Cam Farm, has been selected to host a 2014 Model Farm tour by the National Black Growers Council.

Goldmon’s farm is located at 16401 U.S. 79 North in Wabbaseka and will be open to the public Thursday, July 17, from 8 a.m. to noon. Field tours will begin at 9 a.m. and end at 11:30 a.m. followed by lunch at the S.J. Parker Extension Complex at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.

This is the third year that Goldmon’s farm has been included on the tour. His farm demonstrates integrated usage of U.S. Department of Agriculture programs and agricultural technologies to improve farm productivity.

Various USDA representatives will share details on implementation of their programs. Corporate sponsors include Monsanto and John Deere companies. Monsanto representatives will showcase the latest seed and trait technologies in corn and soybeans and discuss weed control options.

NBGC has partnered with UAPB and Morehouse Black Farms and Landowners, a community based organization headquartered in Bastrop, Louisiana, to improve the efficiency, productivity and sustainability of Black row crop farmers.

The S.J. Parker Extension Complex is located on the corner of L.A. “Prexy” Davis Drive and Oliver Road, off University Drive.
