Central Arkansas Development Council’s Single Parent Scholarship Fund is accepting applications in Dallas County. The deadline to apply is Friday.
The SPSF program provides scholarships to low-income single parents who are pursuing a college education. Funds are used to offset financial situations that may keep a single parent from achieving their educational goals. Full-time students may receive $500 per semester; part-time students may receive $250 per semester.
Potential applicants must return a completed application, three letters of recommendation, a current transcript of all completed courses, and a goal statement. Applicants must be at 125 percent of the federal poverty level, which for a family of two is $1615.63 monthly. Applicants must also have custodial care of a child under the age of 18, be enrolled in an undergraduate course of study, with the exception of candidates for the Master of Arts in Teaching degree, and maintain a 2.5 GPA. Additional guidelines also apply. For more information and to download an application, go to www.cadc.com. Each application is screened and each applicant participates in an interview session. All application paperwork must be received by 4:30 p.m. Friday.
