The Pine Bluff Jefferson County Economic Opportunities Commission will administer food commodities from the United States Department of Agriculture from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Pine Bluff Convention Center.
Applicants for food commodities assistance must meet income eligibility requirements. Income eligibility will be determined by one of the following criteria: the household participation in the food stamp program, financial criteria comparing household size with state income guidelines (130 percent poverty level), or automatic eligibility for foster children. For a household of one the monthly countable income limit is $1,245. For each additional person in the household add $436. Countable income includes check stubs, child support, unemployment, housing utility assistance, SSI, SSA, TEA, VAS and retirement benefits.
To apply for assistance, the household should bring a picture ID of the person requesting food and have a working knowledge of household income. Additional information may be required during the interview process. Failure to provide verification requested may result in delay or denial of assistance.
