The Pine Bluff Police Department had announced the graduation of 19 citizens from the 34th session of the department’s Citizen’s Police Academy.
They were recognized in a graduation banquet on Nov. 12 at First Presbyterian Church in Pine Bluff.
The graduates, who volunteered their time to attend the academy, completed nine classes spanning eight weeks. The academy exposed the participants to what is involved in being a police officer as well as introduced them to the criminal justice system. They received training in matters of law, courts, firearms, and forensics. They were also taught about the different divisions within the police department and how the police, prosecutors and courts interact.
The graduates are Latoya Barker, Brandie Coleman, Gaby Corpulis, Pearl Dennis, Barbara Douglas, Bernice Hayes, Mattie Hayes, Debra Herd, Latrina Jackson, Kennisha Jackson, Janice James, Rosalind Mouser, Sharon Sergeant, Veranita Simmons, Dana Smith, Sandra Spadoni, Regina Vontungeln, Debbie Walls and Ruby Young.
