JAMES WARD SR.

DUMAS — Elder James Ward Sr., 64, of Dumas died Thursday, Oct. 29, at Delta Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 8, 1944, in Dumas, he was a son of the late Miles and Earlee Adrow Ward.

A member of Faith Apostolic Church of Jesus in Mitchellville and served as pastor of Full Gospel Apostolic Church in Dewitt.

Survivors include his wife, Ruthie Ward of Mitchellville; four sons, Courtney Johnson of Dumas, Edward Ward of Spriingfield, Ill., Terry Ward of Little Rock, James Ward Jr., of Detroit, Mich.; eight daughters, Alicia Ward of Mitchellville, Annette Esaw of McGehee, Marie Ward and Carmentia Edmondson of Chicago, Ill., Lavida Edmondson of Sacramento, Calif., Paula Ashley of Grady, Patricia King of Little Rock, Sabrina Edmondson of Kansas City, Kan.; three brothers, Granville Ward of Dumas, Leonard Ward of Oklahoma City, Okla., Miles Ward Jr., of Blythe, Calif.; six sisters, Rosie Garrett and Annette Jenkins of Dumas, Foest Witherspoon of McGehee, Flossie Cotton and Delois Ward of Pine Bluff, Shirley Johnson of New York City, N.Y.; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009 at Hunt Memorial Church of God in Christ in Dumas with Bishop Alfonso Madden officiating. Burial will be in St. Stephens Cemetery in Oakwood Bayou by Brown Funeral Home of Dumas.

Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

The body will lie in state at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of service.
