UAM SCHOOL OF EDUCATION TO HOST WORKSHOPS

MONTICELLO — The Math and Science Center in the School of Education at the University of Arkansas at Monticello is offering several professional development sessions in June and July for in-service teachers, according to Dr. Peggy Doss, dean of the school.
“Teaching Middle School Math Using the TI-73” will be held Wednesday for math teachers in grades five through eight. Cost of the session is $100.
A session for high school algebra and geometry teachers, “Teaching High School Math Using the TI-84,” will be held Thursday. Cost of the session is $100.
A workshop for math teachers in grades four through eight, titled “Fraction Islands Workshop,” will be held July 8. Cost of the session, including materials, is $350.
“Teaching Math and Science Using the TI-10 and TI-15” will be held July 9. Cost of the session, including two books, is $100.
A session for eighth grade algebra teachers, titled “Algebra Tiles Workshop,” will be offered July 10 at a cost of $100.
A “Family Involvement Workshop” to highlight math and science literacy will be held July 14 at a cost of $25.
“Test Taking Strategies for the Benchmark in Grades 4-8” will be held July 15 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Cost of the session is $10.
A session for algebra and geometry teachers, titled “Test Taking Strategies for the End of Course Exam,” will be offered July 15 from 1-4 p.m. at a cost of $10.
The final session, “Inquiry Science — Make and Take Activities to Match the Arkansas Science Frameworks,” will be held Aug. 6. Cost of the session is $20.
