UAM holds Arbor Day observance

Students, faculty and staff at the University of Arkansas at Monticello planted a chinkapin oak tree at the center of campus recently in observance of Arbor Day, a nationally-celebrated observance that encourages tree planting and care.

ABATE District 20 sets meeting

Pine Bluff /Sheridan ABATE District 20 will meet at Delta Rivers Nature Center in Regional Park at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 5. All members and interested riders are invited to attend. Results of the May rummage sale will be discussed.

A day of pampering

The women of Whispering Knoll Assisted Living Facility are honored with a day of pampering services. Conducted May 6, the event featured services by a variety of agencies including makeup by Dillard’s cosmetics department associates, fingernails by Polished with a Purpose, photo shoot by GC Images/Greg Courteney Jr. photographer, gifts by New Birth Women’s Ministry, music by Melvin Crockett and Son and a presentation of roses as Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity serenaded the women. Westerman to address Coffee with the Chiefs

Fourth District Congressman Bruce Westerman, R-Hot Springs, will be the speaker for Coffee with the Chiefs, sponsored by Interested Citizens for Voter Registration Inc. The event will be held from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday, May 3, at the Pine Bluff Country Club.

Nettye Johnson — a certified health coach, Christian educator and professional speaker — will sign her book, “Put Your Faith Where Your Fork Is,” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at Ephesus Christian Bookstore & Heritage Fashions Boutique, 901 W. Sixth Ave.
