Unified Christian Alliance Inc. recently held its 18th annual Baby Show as part of its annual scholarship fundraiser. The funds benefit high school seniors who choose to attend the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
The Pine Bluff Grider Field Aviation Museum Inc. will hold its third annual Airshow and Fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at Grider Field. The purpose of the fundraiser is to restore the only remaining World War II barrack at Grider Field and develop an aviation museum.
I finally got another chance to hit the road and headed for a state park that’s been on my radar for some time because it looked like something both guys and the gals would enjoy. I was right. Ozark Folk Center State Park in Mountain View was amazing. I loved it for several reasons, but mostly because it’s an effort to continue the Ozark traditions of craftsmanship and because every crafter there was so friendly and knowledgeable about their chosen craft. And each was helpful with an explanation of what they do. The park’s mission is to perpetuate, present and promote the Ozark way of life, and they do it well.
Pine Bluff Police Officer Latherese Ellis, who will complete her second year on the force in November, was named Officer of the Year during the department’s annual awards banquet in April.
