Bess Jenkins Club learns about Bayou Bartholomew

The Bess Jenkins Club recently met at the Pine Bluff Country Club. Judy Barrett, president, announced that the club would again make a $200 memorial gift to Jenkins Memorial Children’s Center in honor of Bess Jenkins. A memorial gift was also made to First Presbyterian Church in honor of Marjorie Jones.

Strouds celebrate 50th anniversary

John and Martha Stroud will celebrate their 50th Wedding Anniversary at a reception hosted by their children at Greenlee Baptist Church on Sunday, January 17th from 2PM to 4PM. They were married on January 15, 1966, in Texarkana, Texas. They are the parents of 3 sons and have 6 grandchildren. Friends and family are invited to join us as we celebrate this special occasion. Millers celebrate 55 years on Christmas Day

Joe and Juanita Miller, pastors of Share-A-Prayer and Word Church in Pine Bluff celebrated 55 years of blissful marriage on Christmas Day. The couple made their first acquaintance in the classroom at Tucker Elementary School. What started as a fourth-grade, blackboard competition — boys on one side, girls the other — led to over five decades of working together on the same team.


Christena Brown-Moore and Lorenzo Moore of Pine Bluff gave birth to a baby boy, Roman M. Moore, on Dec. 13. He weighed 7 pounds and 5.8 ounces. His grandparents are Nina and Joseph Brown of Pine Bluff; and Betty and Rich Moore Sr. of Pine Bluff.

Pine Bluff branch plans NAUW National Day

The Pine Bluff Branch of the National Association of University Women will commemorate its annual National Day Program at 3 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 10. The event will be held in the Adair Greenhouse auditorium at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
