Faculty and staff in the School of Agriculture Fisheries and Human Sciences at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff recently contributed more than $1,000 to support students benefiting from the Jefferson County Single Parent Scholarship Fund.
Cynthia Garner, who works in the university’s John Brown Watson Memorial Library and serves on the JCSPSF Board, spearheaded the fundraising project.
“On behalf of Mrs. Cynthia Garner, we want to offer many thanks for the generous contributions of faculty and staff,” said Marilyn Bailey, JCSPSF Board secretary. “Since its inception in 1991, the JCSPSF has awarded more than 354 scholarships valued at nearly $120,000 supporting more than 75 single parent households, thereby raising the educational status of the population in Jefferson County.”
Applications are now being accepted online for the spring semester. The deadline to apply is Jan. 20.
