PWA members discuss scholarship fundraiser at recent meeting

Members and guests of the Progressive Women’s Association met recently at the Relyance Bank White Hall branch for their monthly meeting and luncheon.

The membership enrollment potluck luncheon featured fried chicken, which was provided by the board. There were four guests at the meeting — Marjorie Stewart, Joyce Richardson, Imogene Crowder, former members, and Delois Dilbeck, guest of member Betsy Foster.

Georgia LaGrave, scholarship fundraiser chairwoman, reminded everyone about the annual Fall Auction, which helps to fund scholarships for Lauren Burgess, Anita Butler and Whitney Erwin. She distributed fliers and letters for advertisement and encouraged all ladies to get items for the auction.

Linda Eifling, president, conducted the business session. Members signed up to bring monthly door prizes. The group will continue to bring non-perishable food items for the White Hall Baptist Church Food Pantry.

Foster, scholarship chairwoman, discussed the needs of Alex Smith and Allison Sites. The organization decided to also fund Alex Smith, and if funds are available to give a scholarship to Allison Sites at mid-term.

Plans were made to have a guest speaker from the Veranda at the next meeting to talk about the benefits of massages. Nancy Rosen presented Eifling with a Dillard’s gift certificate as a president’s gift.

Alice Erwin won the dollar pot and donated it back to the chapter. Brenda Doucey and Crowder won door prizes. Dilbeck was welcomed as a new member.

The birthdays recognized were Foster, LaGrave and Needra Hansen.
